I absolutely took it as a joke.....but my girls are probably planning to go on egg-laying strike due to me slandering and libelling them! I am very amused when folk find my flock ugly/huge/mottley etc.....they are just that.

and I love them for their quirkiness. The very fact that I am planning to cross my NN with La Flèche means I am setting myself up for a lot of ribbing in the future.....Gordon X La Flèche .....another nightmare!

But Blackchop's feet.....huge, very black......VERY large scales.......a bit like a snake to look at. I have never had to trim toe nails, though....... they wear them off running away from Gordon. (Actually Blackchops likes his attentions, and since she has been hanging out with him, he is ALMOST monogamous.....but not quite)

Blackchops SHOULD lay one-egg-omelette sized eggs, but will probably lay eggs the size of a sparrow's knowing my luck. She went into the nesting box yesterday and sat for a couple of hours, but all she did was to poop and severely flatten the straw....however, she probably is sensing something coming down....

Most of my lot are pretty fit as they have 'hybrid vigour'.....OK, they're mutts.....but a few are 'the real deal'.

PG yes well we will expect a picture of those eggs so keep that camera charged and ready. I find it rather funny when I see a hen who glues herself to a rooster. I have a little gold spangled Hamburg who lays daily, beautiful smallish egg. Whatever rooster is in the pen she clings to and at the moment her man is a young white Ameraucana. I am wondering if she will fight the other hens off. I had a Black Silkie pair and witnessed the hen having a fit as her man was attempting to mount another hen. She was squawking loudly and knocked him off. And then proceeded to lecture him loudly.

here is Santa Cruz his mom was my white leghorn hen. He's got some black feathers .

nope he looks like a RIR rooster

all red except his tail feathers they are green

I know his dad was all black though.
I've got two more chicks that look like Santa cruz and those are girls. Then I've got another little black one chocolate cupcake and her mom is my Naked Neck Goldie. Goldie is black but has like brownish color mixed in. I'm not sure if Goldie is pure either. I got her from a friend.

Ps they all have bowties like their dad. I've got some in the incubator that are from my hens. three from my black copper maran another one is from my australorp and then ive got two from my Russian Orloff.

Here is one of the newest family members. Sunflower its mom was my golden comet hen marshamallow. I'm hoping its a girl cause its red like its mom was when I got her as a chick that would be nice if i could sex link it
