Id say just keep doing what you're doing and try to get a little more in him each feed. But if he refuses let him rest ... biophiliac will let you know if you need to do something else...@WVduckchick yes definitely so ugly they are cute lol!! Think its those big eyes!
Very interesting video! But worried about doubling the weight lol but atleast hes putting some weight on!
I am learning from this too!!! I have no experience feeding babies this young. This thread will halp others in the future. Here is a vid of the type of feeder I used. I didn't use a syringe, I'll post a pic of what I used. As you can see the baby puts his beak in thru a slit in the rubber and just sucks. They sometimes stop for a moment to take a breath before they are finished. I would suggest @LauraMunro wait a moment when you think he's done-then see if he'll take a bit more, checking the crop as shown in the vid.Id say just keep doing what you're doing and try to get a little more in him each feed. A dog food can for scale. Soft plastic 4oz dispensing bottle from vet. cut off top to leave a quarter sized opening. Latex glove held on by hair bands. Slit cut in glove for beak.
eta - during feeding the slit may get too stretched out, just move to a fresh spot on the glove and make a new slit.
