Need help with malpositioned pigeon chick!!

Looks good to me. I would work toward the end closest to your finger in the picture, as opposed to your palm. His butt and the yolk should be in that part, so you want to make sure it’s fully absorbed before letting him out of that half of the shell.

I was gently peeling and hit a little bit of blood so i have put him back in the incubator for now :/ im struggling to tell what position hes in because at the bottom of where ive started peeling i can see his two wings so i think his bum is at the top of the egg :s ?

Hmmm. Maybe. You could just let him rest for a bit, see if he makes any progress on his own, or starts to more actively try to bust out. Looks pretty much as though he could almost separate the shell as it is already.

The other thing you could try is peeling just the shell along the center circumference around the egg, leaving the membrane intact. So you wouldn't hit any blood that way, but he would be able to flex the egg and it would be more apparent when he's ready to break free.

Could he have a leg up around his head? And if so would what you suggest help with that? Im curious cos I've had chicks do that and wasn't sure how to help them. I got lucky while assisting but man, I hate relying on luck...

In her last pic, I do see toes, just above the beak, but its hard to make out where the leg actually is. Looks like a "knee" right in the middle of the open area, I think. I've had several ducklings this year with a foot above the head. I honestly think it depends on the air cell, and where they break through. If they can maneuver on their own, I try to let them, but I'm an assister, so ya know I don't have much patience. The more you assist, the easier it is to know when to stop and wait.

I will take a better picture and see if it helps!! He looks so cramped poor wee thing i will try to take just the shell off and see how he gets on himself from there really appreciate all the help!!!

Haha i think ill be hooked now too!! Cant get a good picture yet hes moved his foot back in and its under his head! Peeled a little bit more but noticed a few blood vessels when i put the coconut oil on it so have put him back in incubator and will keep an eye on him
