I am looking to see how long after hatch the baby should eat...several sources say 12 hours - hatchling will sleep after hatch, another says an hour after hatch. I know you did some research @LauraMunro - your plans?

fwiw I think this one might be ready to eat sooner because, a) took a long time hatching and b) he's squeaking at you.

eta - will he have something soft to snuggle in the brooder?

Man, now I want pigeons, lol. I came very close to buying a pair at an auction a couple weeks ago, but didn't because I don't think I have proper housing for them.

@biophiliac yes i think you're right he will need fed pretty soon yes im going to put him in a small bowl lined with kitchen towel and ill put a wee cuddly toy in there for him! Im just getting the temp under the brooder just right

@Pyxis yeah they're great animals, just a shame not many people like them! I have a few that live out my back garden in someones disused building and have built a bond with them over past few months! They have learned to trust me and will eat out my hand and come up to sit on my window ledge lol!
