Hey. I’m wondering if any one knows how to help my duck. I got two a week ago they were born on the 10th of April. The one is growing and walking but the other one isn’t wanting to walk because it is walking on top of its feet and isn’t growing- same size as when I picked them up. I googled it and it might be a vitamin B3 deficiency but I’m not sure how to cure it. If any one has any suggestions or way to help be greatly appreciated

Add niacin to the water

Could you post a video of the duck walking?
What diet is the duck currently on?

B complex Injectable can be found at most feed stores in the cattle aisle; you can give approx 0.5ml of the liquid over the ducks feed, or treats once a day. Alternatively, you can use human niacin plain capsules that are no-flush. There are a few other conditions such as varus deformity that can cause inward rotation of the legs so if you do not see improvement with niacin supplmentation you may suspect a genetic-related musculoskeletal deformity.

I'm not sure why she isn't growing, but the walking on her feet sounds like a niacin deficiency. Probably the best way to get what she needs quickly so you can reverse the problem is to give her liquid vitamin b complex. You can get it at a feed store, or Amazon. It won't hurt your other duckling to have it as well. What are you feeding them and what breed are they? I suggest you read the niacin deficiency post at the top under "sticky topics". It has a wealth of information. If you act quickly you can reverse the niacin deficiency before she's totally debilitated.

won’t let me take a video but it walks on top of its feet kinda like in the photo

She looks like a pekin. They are notorious for needing extra niacin. I would do the liquid vitamin B as soon as possible in hopes you can reverse the condition - at least enough so she can get around. I have a pekin who is a bit pigeon-toed and stands on her feet sometimes, but we supplemented and she walks around fine now.

Thank you for everyone’s help but unfortunately a few days ago quackers didn’t make it.
