My question is...would it be wise to give a booster shot to a grump within about 3 weeks of her expected whelping date? I mean...wouldn't it make sense that if you did that, then her level of antibodies would be about as high as they could possibly be when she actually whelps, and that the pups would get a bigger 'dose' with the colostrum?

That is a good question. One that I would like to see the answer to. If I'm planning on breeding one of my gals I give them a booster a week before breeding. I always worried that the booster might hurt the fetuses. But if it's safe then I would booster before delivery.
I hope the pup continues to improve.

Glad to hear he's still hanging in there. My dog wouldn't eat even after I brought him home... until I gave him some cooked turkey. after they release him, try feeding him something like that. You'll notice an improvement right away.

Giving a vaccine more often is NOT MORE EFFECTIVE. I do not vaccinate for Parvo after the puppy series of shots. I give 4 modified live vaccines: 7, 10, 13, and 16 weeks.

After that my dogs are never vaxed for Parvo or Distemper again.

Each vaccine stresses the immune system of the animal receiving it. Canine vaccines have been proven to cause auto immune disease response in 100% of the animals tested.

IMO vaccinations are necessary to protect our dogs and us from certain pathogens. They need enough vaccination to become immune.

Once that happens, more is NOT better.​
