Neighborhood Watch Takes Stand on Backyard Chickens - Brentwood CA

I think a Homeowners Association could take a stand, but it seems a bit beyond the scope of a neighborhood watch group, unless chickens have formed gangs and are now committing crimes. That's nuts. Good luck.

******************************ADDRESS HAS BEEN CORRECTED IN THIS POST; THANK YOU GNAWSEY!!!***************************************

Nifty-Chicken and anyone else who is local and interested:

The meeting is Tuesday, January 26th in Council Chambers at the new City Hall. The address is 101B Sand Creek Road, Brentwood 94513., Brentwood, 94513. The online agenda and E-Packet can be viewed at [http://brentwood.granicus.com/ViewPublisher.php?view_id=26]. The E-Packet includes a lengthy and extensive study by our Land Use Committee that was presented to the Planning Commission, some good info in there!

There should be live streaming of the meeting, which can also be accessed through the above website, starting at 7:00 Pacific Time.

We consider this a "doorstep" issue. What one city does affects another. Pro support is pro support, regardless of the geographic coordinates. We would appreciate eleventh hour letters supporting the amendment to the municipal code, as well as warm bodies supporting the endeavor. The Land Use and Planning Committees did specifically note how many presenters/emails/letters were for or against this issue. Unfortunately due to the Neighborhood Watch Flier, a lot of those who took the time to speak/write were against backyard chickens as a whole. We are seeking to change those numbers and to show the City Council that there is great support for the chickens!

Now if only we could get all of our local "outlaw" chicken owners to show their faces at the meeting...

The City Council email address is: [email protected]

Thanks to all for the support!!!

Do you think they might of seen that dirtiest jobs episode where they
are trying to catch all of those gaming chickens running loose in Miami.

TIED 2-2!!!! ARG!! The vice mayor was absent, so the vote is on hold until Feb. Though, there was a good part about the meeting tonight. Everyone who spoke out at the meeting all were "PRO" chicken.

Actually my roosters do crow when the train passes about half a mile east of here between 2 and 3AM. Fortunately most of them are in a well insulated barn so you can barely hear them 20 feet away. The roo covering my free range hens has a cozy apartment in the garage where I bring him in every night because their coop is only 50 feet from my neighbor's window. He's not as loud as the train but he, like the other roos, he won't stop until he can't hear the train any longer (~15 minutes).
