Nevadans?

Ha ha Aubrey! Just admit it! You would say you loved Bin Laden if you felt he was getting picked on by everyone. My Dad is like that and I love him for his constantly positive take on anyone and anything. We call him our Pollyanna.

High quality Saffron (that is not cut with plant waste and other cheap spices) can run you $5,000 a pound! To add saffron to a pie just for color is crazy! If I want my pie a darker yellow I'll just add a drop of orange food coloring for about 1.5 cents a drop and then my pie won't have that "earthy hay-like fragrance" that folks covet in saffron!

I think it's cute that you like her but I'm not sure you'd still feel that way if you had to work for her though. You notice how all her employees (except that one guy on her show that is a little off) look scared to death of her? But then maybe this is what some folks admire about her.

I do think that show that her daughter started was cutting way below the belt though. You can tell that this is the one person that Martha cares about and she can't say one positive thing? That's cold. Nobody deserves to be publicly humiliated over and over again by the one person in the world they love more than anything! She tries hard to take it on the chin though. But she looks like she is trying to laugh while in tremendous pain every time her daughter does this.

Dee I'm afraid I missed the cat food can chandelier! I watched her for about 15 mins a month if that. See what I missed!!! Oh man I'm gonna read Steve the riot act for making me miss that one! haha
Yeah Oprah was definitely easier to watch but I'm afraid my ADHD makes any show without a story line hard to sit all the way through.

I absolutely LOVE the idea for the DIY/crafts show though! You should definitely do this!!! Make 3 shows then post them on You Tube a week apart and see what happens. They might just take off! You have to tell everyone to watch though! Plus post link to it everywhere you can. We'll watch them! Well unless the first one stinks of course. Then we will skip the others.

We're making a list so we can tag them as they arrive here. I'm ordering a brahma, so she'll be either Korma or Masala. Then we're thinking Cacciatore, Tetrazini, Parmesan, Buffalo... we may end up recycling some names as we go through roosters and meanies.

(And then, in the middle of this family conversation, my son says he wants to name one Luke Skywalker. He's not good at following the thread of a conversation.)

I love it! My grandson named one of my hens Tractor Pull. I asked him to think on that name but he decided he really liked it. After that we started a game where we could put the name we don't like in the "trash can". We'd hold one had in the shape of a trash can and the other would dump the name in the can. Then we had to pick a new name. Since then, most of their names change every time they come to visit. I love the names they come up with.

We've only had one name change so far. That was when Rotisserie started acting strange at 6 weeks, and I thought she had some disease so I took her to the vet to see if I was going to lose my whole flock. She had gotten a cut on her leg and lost a lot of blood. A $60 vet bill later, she got renamed Gourmet. And my husband didn't even tease me about taking a chicken to the vet. (That's something I won't admit to my dad, though.)

Daniel that sounds like it would be fun! Can we make an earth dome after that? Or maybe starting with a wall would be easier. I am so excited by this concept. They just take really long tubes of biodegradable material (like sand bags that go on and on but recyclable) and fill them with dirt, sand, lime, maybe even a little cement if you have no clay in your soil, and they coil them like the coil pottery. Once the coils are wet down then dried hard they use adobe (wet dirt w/clay) and trowel it on. These can be made small or pretty big with additional domes added to enlarge it to huge home size! I know the larger structures are for the experienced architects but this looks like it would be a blast and pretty easy too! Maybe a dog house first?

Sorry trying to get to everybody...

Sheryl the show was called "Whatever Martha" and I don't remember what network it was on. Not one of the main ones I know for sure. It was Just Martha's daughter and a friend of hers sitting there trashing Martha and the show the whole time. I only watched it once for 30 seconds and it made me sick to my stomach. Unfortunately the ads for the show were hard to escape.

Hey you changed your avatar! She's a cutie. I don't know what is wrong with Tractor Pull! I think it has a nice ring to... OK I can't even type this with a straight face. I can't imagine trying to get that name out everytime this chicken is mentioned. And how do you shorten it? At least Luke Skywalker could be Lou or Sky but Tract or Pull just doen't have a ring to it at all does it? Tell your Grandson I tried to go to bat for him!

I was thinking that if enough people are interested we could get together and build one. each part could then be explained as it was being built. The materials would need to be covered but that is all. I am looking to get materials for a larger version anyway so we might be able to work it all into one multi purpose project. I will let you know when we are ready to start the final heater.
That sounds great Daniel!

Sunny I thought that show Whatever Martha looked funny, though I never have actually watched it. It seemed kind of campy like Mystery Science Theater 3000.

Tractor Pull sounds pretty good to me. I would shorten that name to TP for typing, though.

I knew I read this before and here's a french post on Marans eggs and what you can breed with what to get what you want. I know lots of whats here. This is translated to English already for everyone:

You are awesome to do this research! That would be so exciting if we confirm that the marans eggs don't get salmonella! OK trying not to get too excited in case it's not true...
