Nevadans?

So next spring I really want to get some chicks. These are the breeds:
Barred rock
Australorp
Welsummer
Ameracauna (or easter egger)
and a silkie (particularly blue or white)

Any breeders or suggestions near Reno? I am up to driving up to two hours away...

A few of us here share orders, so you might be able to add your 5 to someone else's order and pay your share of shipping.. Just stay on here and make a few friends, and miracles will happen! I have some of Chickee's babies as well, and am very happy with them.

Elizabeth, did you make it home alright? You must be so exhausted.

Aubrey, how is your feathered family doing today? How is Elvis feeling?

Happy Birthday, Sunny!!!!

I hope you're able to relax a bit today.

Sorry I haven't been on here much. My to-do list is getting away from me, and checking BYC isn't on it.

I do it anyway, just not as much.

It's been a great work week. Today is day 2 of doing chair massages at Russ' office. The HR rep wanted to get me to gather a team to give everyone a 15-minute massage, considering this is their year-end closing event and it's common for employees to go home at 4am. But the big bosses chafed at spending that much money, and HR was able to raffle off 24 massages, done only by me. I get paid $20 per massage, so it's going to be very rewarding at the end.

A few months ago, I mentioned to Russ that I plan to scope out the sales fliers from the grocery stores, then buy in bulk when there is a super good deal. This week, red bell peppers are 4/$1 at Savemart, and chicken leg quarters are 68 cents/lb. Peaches are 69 cents/lb at Smart & Final. I told Russ that I'm going to use a chunk of this income to buy a few cases of these, portion them out, and put them in the freezer. He said, "I thought you were going to use it to pay bills." Uh... Baby, food IS a bill. It's not like I'm buying up cases of Hostess Twinkies. And I can't grow everything here. And when red bell peppers are $5.99/lb in the winter and we can pull a bag from the freezer and put them in the stir fry, we'll be so glad we did. Well, I must have convinced him of the wisdom of my ways, because tonight after this last chair massage gig, we're going to go buy it all and freeze it. Tomorrow I'll be processing food and catching up on my weeding. I think the weeds are winning right now.

Oh yeah, and we're in the market for a used (cheap) freezer that we can put on our back porch, covered by a tarp. There's no way we're going to keep all this food in our side-by-side. So if you know someone who's selling one (cheap,) can you please let me know?

How does $50 for a 20 cu. ft. upright sound? Just one caveat: My new one won't be delivered for another two weeks so I wouldn't be able to bring it to you until then.

I have to come pick up my new one in Reno - that's what I meant by it being "delivered", to Sears, not me! - so I can drop the other one off to you on the way. We're probably talking Sat. July 7th.

Okay, so I was thinking about how I was getting my chicks for next spring from My Pet Chicken and it occured to me that the only silkies they have are bantams, and all my hens are standard sized so they might pick on her. I think what I am going to do is get the other chicks I wanted, and then when I get those chicks, I will just get a silkie chick and put the silkie with the rest of them. So, to get to my point, does anyone breed or know a breeder who would happen to breed splash silkies in the Reno area?
