Nevadans?

Ok, well here is the recipe for Oatmeal Pancakes you asked for. Yum Yum!

In a bowl, combine 1 cup regular or quick-cooking rolled oats, 1 cup whole wheat flour, 1/4 cup each wheat germ and nonfat dry milk powder, 1 tsp baking soda,
1/4 tsp salt, and 1 TBSP brown sugar. In another bowl, combine 2 eggs(lightly beaten), 2 cups buttermilk, and 4 tablespoons butter or margarine(melted and cooled).
Add all at once to dry ingredients and stir until well blended.

Preheat a griddle or large frying pan over medium heat, grease lightly. Spoon batter, about 1/4 cup for each cake, onto griddle, spread batter to make 5 inch circles. Cook until tops are bubbly and appear dry, turn and cook other sides until lightly browned. Makes 16 pancakes. Serve with applesauce!!

Primeval is a British show about a group of scientists (plus a zoologist and a conspiracy theorist) who discover rips in the fabric of space/time called anomalies. These anomalies open do different eras in the past and future, and they have to deal with creatures from those eras. Very exciting and suspenseful. I recommend it.
Sounds cool. If it's British it's bound to have some very funny lines as well. I love British humor. Course I'm a bit off myself.

Okay Lacy, just let me know your thoughts.

Ok, just to preface...

I don't trust doctors. I might go to one for a diagnosis if I was having unmanageable problems but I would probably NOT accept treatment. I believe, very strongly, that MOST health problems can be corrected by correcting the diet and getting plenty of rest and exercise.

As what I was going to write is somewhat lengthy, I'd like to ask before I do all of that, if it is something you really are interested in?

I have a book that I rely on very heavily. When I have developed any kind of problem, I refer to this book and try the solutions suggested and I have found that in every single instance, she has been correct.

So, let me know if changing your diet and/or taking vitamins is something you are willing to do and I will go from there.

What is apf that you said you cannot each much of?

I've only had a few meals with Sheryl, but from what I've seen, her diet is already pretty awesome. I'm curious to see what other changes are recommended.

And yes, I agree that most health problems can be reversed or at least alleviated with change of diet and physical activities. Luckily my GP feels the same way, which is why I've stuck with him for so many years. He'd much rather prescribe a diet or lifestyle change than any kind of medication.

Will do. I take tons of vitamins and supplements because of my stomach. Apf=All Purpose Flour.

And I really enjoyed them too!

My GP is more into diet than anything else. He's just stumped right now with me and I don't think the UNR doctor was much help here. Not sure there but perhaps he was suggesting to him what was going on. I have tons of stuff to think about before I actually let them cut into me though. I know that's the would be the final question with me, what will I decide to do. Replace this stupid stomach since it doesn't work? Concentrate on the liver only and not think about the stomach? I just don't know. I'm thinking perhaps if the stomach was fixed then perhaps the liver will be better off? I think so because of the diabetes will be gone if I do this and the diabetes can also attack the liver. He's trying to figure out whats attacking me, could it be all 3 or perhaps just 1 of the 3.

Thanks Pam! I know I need to eat more but my stomach doesn't work like it should. A few years ago I could only eat 1 tbsp of peanut butte and 1/4 cup applesauce per day. I'm eating more and I do snack on veggies most of the day now but to actually sit down and have a meal is about once per day. Yesterday I didn't even sit down and eat, it was just a munch day. I wrote it all down and I shook my head. It wasn't much but it sure was a lot more than what I was able to eat before. The doctors understand this and my liver doctor really wants me to do something with my stomach issues.
Is this because you get a full feeling? Or is something else going on?

Ok, my chicken peeps. I have a crisis threatening my hobby. Jose was talking to the neighbor behind us today when there was a power outage and the neighbor mentioned that he and another neighbor behind are annoyed at the chicken noise but he wanted to talk to us first before taking it further. ( I always had a feeling that neighbor would be the one. He's retired and home all day, every day).

So I guess I will be reducing my flock and trying to keep the quietest ones. Also I will put in the plywood over the two big windows in the back--on hinges so I can open if needed. And think of other ways to reduce noise. Any ideas are much appreciated.

I have to do some research and see who are the quietest ones when they lay. I am very sad. Also, if anyone on here or you know of anyone looking to add to their flock, I will have some available shortly. The oldest are 1 year old and the rest are laying or point of lay. What are your quietest breeds? I know there is individual variation as well but it's good to know if someone has found some particular breeds to be quieter.

Can you stack bales of hay/straw around the coop to insulate the noise?

Do you know if there are certain times of the day that they are bothered most? If its early morning, perhaps just letting them out later would be an option?
