New Jersey

Well my broody wheaten marans hen seems to have been reformed, at least for now! As was suggested on the broody thread (and here), I put her in a wire bottom cage, off the floor, for 24 hours. Chicken jail!!! I put her back in the pen last night, and she's not interested in camping out in the nest box anymore. Hopefully it lasts!!!

I guess to a chicken that must have been like torture, lol. Well as long as it worked.

Yes, We are considered herbertsville area :)

Shhh...don't tell my husband you can have more than 4 chickens in Brick...he read it was only 4 ;-D lol!

I love that you have a variety. We have 3 RIRs and an araucana. 2 of the reds are laying pretty consistently and the araucana is new to us last Friday and she apparently has a cold (?). So hopefully she will start laying those pretty blue eggs soon! :)

No you're right about only allowed to have four in Brick. We're just rule breakers here. My neighbors on all sides of us love them and all of them have grandkids that come almost each weekend to feed them. We have a big piece of property with a tall privacy fence. It took some of the neighbors months before they even knew they were back there.

I mean seriously, who can have just four chickens! It just can't be done.
