New member - Biofilter recommendations please?

Hey there
Just joined, although I've been using the advice here on and off for a while.
I grew up on a farm with chickens, but that was a loooong time ago!
We currently have 5 chickens (3 golden warrens and 2 sunsets), and 7 ducks (miniature pom pom crosses). We live in a pretty standard semi, with a 5 X 10m back garden, so most of it is given over to the birds!
We have a pond at the moment that's 120cm square by 40cm deep, but then there's a header pond above it that's about 120cm X 50cm X 30cm deep. We have a spillway that creates a waterfall and a decent pump, but it's not good enough to keep the water clean. Can anyone recommend a really decent biofilter pump please?

I don't believe there is a biofilter that exists that can keep up with what the ducks will deposit into the pond. Not even a mechanical filter followed by a biological filter.

Welcome to BYC frm hot and humid St. Louis, Missouri! I'm also a duck addict with 44 ducks LOL This is the best bio filter set up I've ever seen. You need more than just a filter. You need plants to remove the really high amount of Nitrogen in the water. Hope this helps:
