Hello all,

I just joined as I've been lurking and reading here for months! I am new to chickens and I am also a Nigerian Goat owner since early summer 2019.

My chickens are a little over 7 months old and I am patiently awaiting my first egg!! I sure hope it's any day now!! We live in CT so maybe it's the lack of light now that it's winter. Sure hope we don't have to wait until spring for that 1st egg!

I have 10 chickens, Silkies (1 is a rooster), Easter Eggers (3), Aracauna, Rhode Island Red, Olive Egger, Light Brahma, & Cuckoo Maran.

Love reading everyone's posts here!

Welcome to BackYardChickens! So glad to have you here in our wonderful community of friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people!

Hi! :frow Welcome to BYC! I have heard that some chicks will wait until the first spring, but I suspect that wont be all of yours. In fact, I'm wondering if someone has found a secret place to lay eggs. Every now and then, when it seems I'm not getting the amount of eggs I'm expecting, I'll start looking around. Stored hay, a covered dust bath, under the coop are all places I have found a stash of eggs. :lau I don't know what your set up is like, but if there are any hiding places you should be searching them. Hope you find the first one soon!

@CoveChickens - So happy to have you at BYC! :welcome

Before I forget, as a newer goat owner, please give BYC's sister site called BackYard Herds a look/join. Those folks helped me out so much raising goats a few years back, especially when it came to a pregnant goat we had.

So glad after months of reading that you've joined us. You couldn't have picked a better place to find help for your new chicken keeping life. You have a great mix of critters- pictures are always a must around here. Best wishes for some tasty eggs soon!
