News filming my yard from a helicopter!

oh boy!!!! if i had a phone number of one of the offenders i would really rant my brains out!!!!! they say "is not part of our culture" but GUESS WHAT ANIMAL HATER!!!!!????? BACK IN THE 1700-1800s ALMOST EVERY YARD HAD CHICKENS AND POSSIBLY GOATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

absolutely ridiculous.

makes me glad that all of my neighbors love my chickens, I've given them all a free dozen eggs for "putting up" with them(the chickens havent been a nuisance in any way, but I figured I'd show them some gratitude since I know some people are turned off by them)

It makes me crazy to think about all that time and money wasted, and about what our factory farms would be like if the officials and media were as concerned with them as they are with your animals.

And the way they're fining you, do they not realize that $250/day is more than enough to diminsh your livelihood? seriously.
when all is said and done they should be paying you for all the stress and trouble they've caused you.

this just makes no sense to me at all, what's so wrong with chickens that they should be able to repeatedly invade your privacy and try to force you to get rid of your animals? It's not the smell, and it seems like they know it. My coop is not near as clean as yours and I can stick my head inside the thing and barely smell a trace of poo. So I guarantee that neighbors down the street can not smell your animals. I've never raised goats, but I'm pretty positive that their poo is not as bad as a dog's.
And it's not the noise, sure chickens sing the Egg song when they're about to lay, but that can't compare to a dog barking. disease isn't really an issue because dogs and cats carry all sorts of diseases, that's why it's illegal not to vaccinate them.
so they really don't have a good argument.

Whatever you do, DON'T back down or give into their bullying. by going through the proper channels and changing or re-defining the laws, you could be doing a great deed to others who want to raise chickens in your area.

I hope their ridiculousness comes back to bite them in the butt!

I really do feel for you. When we knew that Animal Control was coming, we hid all our roosters. At the time we didn't know that they can't come into the house without a warrant or court order, but they BULLY their way in! They say stuff like, "Ma'am, if you don't let us come in I'll just call the sheffif and wait here for him and then they'll arrest you if you refuse to let me in." Stupid me, I was scared, so I let them in. Now I know better, they CANNOT come into your home without a warrant or court order! And they couldn't get a warrant if they tried, what are the grounds on which they would want the warrant issued? They had NONE! And the reason they came was because my 16 year old DAUGHTER called them and said we are harboring wild and dangerous animals in the house that keep attacking her!

We have one neighbor that called Animal Control and that was the second time they came. She said we have our dog locked up outside in a cage, day and night, no food, no water and the dog cries all day. Well, they came and they looked in my yard (TRESSPASSING) and saw that there was no dog outside. We have TWO dogs, and when Lacy and FEMA play, FEMA will howl and "talk" to lacy out of excitement. That's the only thing that neighbor heard. But when the Animal Control guy came he saw all the wild ducks we had in the yard (I feed a flock of muscovies and mallards in my yard daily that come in from the golf course and canal) and he told us we can't be feeding them because their droppings carry diseases and we can die from it. IGNORANT idiot, he didn't know that I have indoor pet ducks and clean poop all day long with no problem.

I hate nosy busybodies that have no lives and they have to make life miserable for other people. I think it did help us that there was a story in the paper about us rescuing ducks and chickens a few months ago.

She no longer lives with us. She lives with her grandmother. When she saw that animal control wasn't going to take away our babies, she went a step further and opened the door wide open in February this year, and let all my ducks, birds and chickens out. We run a bird rescue, and she hated all our feathered babies. I never thought she'd go that far. I was shocked when I saw my front door wide open and some of my birds missing, my baby chicks running around in the street (this is a residential neighborhood) and my ducks across the street and in my backyard. We never did get two of them back. But it took over a week to find the ones that were missing.

They've been doing this for a while now. Haven't you figured it out yet? Google Earth/Maps does it everyday. And the photos get more clear and precise with every snapshot.

That's just ridiculous! What if someone wants to sunbathe in their birthday soon in their private yard with privacy fence up all around and they feel safe? Some idiot in a helicopter can come along and take photos and post them online?

My parents and I came to this country for freedom. We didn't have freedom in Poland. But it seems that freedom here in the US is fleeting.
