I know the feeling. I'm treating my gold sexlink as a control chick. If any of the chicks had much bigger/brighter headgear than she does, then I'd worry.
Feather sexing only works if a chick has been specifically bred for it. It requires a very specific set of genes from each parent for accuracy.
