November/December "Hatch-a-Long"

well I've lost 2 day! 1 was a faverolle
1 was a 3 week old that died from shock after the ducks terrorized her...
the other faverolle is actually looking stronger...still has spasms but it's got some life

she passed...looks like peacefully...in her sleep!

I discovered another faverolle with fused toes...breeding pair need vitamins! I messaged the breeder hope they care!

all the Orloffs and leghorns are doing great

Yikes! If you don't mind me asking, are these the ones you got on eBay? I decided not to get any eggs there because a lot of the faverolles eggs offered looked like the breeding stock was hatchery quality, with the wrong color birds, and I didn't want to risk it, especially with how delicate they can be as a breed. Have you read the Derperella thread? She's a hatchery faverolles. Really sorry for all your losses :hugs

My 7 month old Light Sussex went broody a few weeks ago and we gave in and got some Cuckoo Maran eggs for her last week. Day 11 today!

I love that people are still joining this hatch! I set 13 eggs yesterday under 3 broody mammas who have ALL taken to the broody boxes that I made for them--cardboard boxes inside dog crates inside my chick shed. 3 eggs are under my partridge Silkie, 4 eggs under my white Silkie, and 6 eggs under my LF splash Ameraucana. Now to keep their food and water full for the next 3 weeks!
