It is very safe for you to open the bottom panel to check from the back side of the hole to see if water can leak into the base.

Another easier way to see if this hole is leaking: filling water in that channel (channel B) for one day, if there is no water leaking out to the table after one day, that hole is a deep dent, you can continue to use it without any fix.

If to fix by filling the hole, can use silicon sealant.

Thank you for replying! I meant to check it before I loaded eggs into it, but forgot.
Will check it when this hatch is finished. So far, no water has leaked onto the table, but I'm worried that it is maybe just leaking into the main base.

Thanks again.

I add water day and night. If you turn knob to left it lowers humidity; right increases humidity. I wrote in sharpie on top so I won’t forget and teenagers and fix while I’m at work.

Our top also had two places with some significant scratches. My biggest concern was the white turner was not made to fit Muscovy duck eggs. The turning action is negated when the eggs do not fit into the little sections and touch the grey bottom area. Without touching the grey grooved tray, the pushing action of the white arms will not turn the eggs ... it merely slides them along with no turning motion at all. We called the company and they said it should fit duck eggs, but it does not unless they are very small duck eggs. We suggested that the little white arms that separate the sections for the eggs be made removable and where you could place them yourself to fit whatever eggs you were incubating. We used a cutting wheel on a Dremel tool and cut out some of the arms. We then cut some popsicle sticks to just the right size and the width was already perfect and we made our own dividers between the eggs so that we could adjust them ourselves. We requested the fan cover and it arrived very quickly. I had another concern that the lid is quite heavy and when needing to move or candle the eggs, I have a fear that the lid will slip from my hand and fall on the eggs.

We also are having a difficult time getting the correct temperature to be consistent. With the temp only adjusting by 0.5 degree increments, it has been frustrating. Setting our unit at 99.5 F always gives a Brinsea glass thermometer reading at egg level of 98.6 F. When I turn it up to 100 F, then it gives a temp of 100.3. We can’t seem to get the desired 99.5 F.

There are many good features with this unit, but more than a few that make it less than ideal for us. We will use this unit as a backup incubator only, or possibly a hatching unit if needed.

A friend came over and helped me candle the eggs I set on 3/17. I was not able to tell if my eggs were alive or not as the only thing I could see with the candler on the Nurture Right was the air cell. The light on the unit is okay, but it was nothing compared to a handheld flashlight thing that he had. I went and ordered a "normal" candler after using his and seeing how much better it worked. I think I will try also just putting a garden hose gasket on the Nurture Right one and see if that helps with how much light bleeds out around the egg. With a different candler, I was able to not only see the veins, but I saw a little foot pressed against the shell and the body moving around!! Sadly, only 3 of 15 were alive. There were 2 that had blood rings, but all the rest were "empty" looking. I am not sure if it was a problem with my incubation or handling or just shipped egg scrambling. I had put them into an egg carton for the first 6 days and had propped that up on one side to tilt the eggs. I think this might have put the end of the egg carton too close to the heater and made them too hot. I am running the incubator at 100.5 as it was 99.5 down at the egg level. So I might have cooked the end of the carton :(

Just wanted to let everyone know I had picked this up last month, put some eggs and now I have hatching chicks. Cant wait to see how many i get, One is out all ready and I have many with little holes in them.
