NY chicken lover!!!!

Hard to see, but stella is the lav orp, right? And the daughter is out of what roo? she is blue laced, but still blue. Most breeds when they say the variety is "blue" it has lacing, without lacing, its most likely "self blue". Does that make sense? Self blue to self blue produce self blue aka lavender, but bred to a normal laced blue, produce laced blue, which is the norm.

Yes Stella is the lavender Orp, the roo is a Splash English Orpington.

Oh wow, there are so many posts from when i first posted here, going to take a while to read and catch up haha.
Just wanted to pop in and say that all of my chicks have made it threw the first few days of me having them and are doing good. One of them seems to have pasty butt and I'm not sure what to do about it, I keep taking a warm paper towle and cleaning it off as best as I can but it seems to build back up. I also bought some Save-a-chick, both electroligist and probiotics (sorry about spelling mistakes) and I give them that once a day now till i change there water out again, is that alright?
I am also going to start to build my coop soon, cant wait, just waiting till the weather breaks.
This is in my medicine file in Notepad - A good place to save your info !

Pasty Butt (Blocked Vent)
A blocked vent is sometimes due to temperature fluctuations suffered by young chicks or more fragile breeds and can be due to stress. There may be other causes, as well. With young chicks, check the temperature in your brooder to ensure it is not fluctuating significantly.
A blocked vent is fatal if not taken care of quickly. A chick suffering pasty butt must be checked on throughout the day and will probably need treatment several times a day for several days.
Treatment:
Clean use a damp rag to remove poo from vent. If the poo is hard, you can soak the chicks bottom in a dish of warm water or put the chicks bottom under warm running water to help remove it.
Dry thoroughly dry the chick. Leaving a chick wet can reduce its immunity and leave it vulnerable to illness or infection.
Olive Oil once the chick is dry, use a Q-tip to gently apply olive oil around the vent to help prevent poos from sticking too hard.
Apple Cider Vinegar several BYCers add a drop or two of apple cider vinegar to drinking water to prevent or reduce the severity of pasty butt.

Put my quail eggs in lock down tonight and felt some movement in quite a few eggs! Fingers crossed on Thursday I will have a ton of fluff balls in my incu

Sorry I just caught up...oops haha mine is a pullet. I can post an up to date picture of her when I get home. For some reason my work computer doesn't let me post pictures (maybe it's a sign that I should be working and not on BYC). There is a picture of her in one of my albums as well, sitting in the fridge ;)

WOW ! what a busy bunch !!

Rancher, how lucky that tree missed your coop ! Sorry for everybody's losses.

I've been busy training my dogs getting ready to show this summer. Also been rehabbing my little boxer from her cruciate surgery. Busy, busy, busy............................................ Oh and waiting for the warmer weather.

I currently have 2 bantams and 2 LF BLRW wanting to be Mommas.

So here is my proposition: If you want eggs hatched I have the girls for the job. I'm quite serious. I have the space and accomadations to separate them to keep the eggs safe. We would have to figure out how to get the eggs to me. The girls aren't going to lay, they might as well hatch !

Just PM me

If anyone is interested, I just posted 18 black copper Marans day old chicks in the for sale forum. Link is in my signature.
Anyways, just saying...
