I am so excited. The girls have discovered a new food. Dandelions! They have always been present and available, but no one had been eating them. Lately they have been eating the flowers and seeds! But now they are headed for the garden and my freshly planted peas.

Isn't it funny? One discovers something then everyone has to have! The latest delicacy/craze here is those huge May/June bugs! Talk about food fight!!

The cracked cemani egg hatched! I had started calling it Scotch after the tape before it even hatched, lol, so I'm super happy. As a bonus, it's perfect! The little thing will be added to my breeding flock providing it feathers out with no color leakage.

Pyxis - love Scotch's name

I may have a broody, but it is only the first night. Hermione the black Orp was in the nest box instead of the coop tonight. She was the sister to my now deceased blue Orp broody Luna. Where Luna was sweet and would let us pick her up and reach under for eggs, Hermione is fierce! Hubby wore fleece lined leather gloves to move her into the coop, she'll take flesh! If she does set (where I want her to), I'll be looking for BLUE eggs, as I have no blue layers in my basket. I'm willing to trade any of the 10 teenage Roos that I end up with from V-Day hatch. 3PRocks, 2 BO, rest are mixed breed.

Morning all. Looks like eowyn has gone broody and is sitting on 5 eggs. Hopefully she will have a hatch this year. After last years epic silkie failures i am hoping this year will be better. The first batch was a bust, mostly because of two power failures. So far the nine i have in are doing well. Candling tonight. Love the hatchabatch app as it keeps track of both hatches for me and reminds me when to candle.

Little monsters are being brats. Let them out this am and two of them had to bite me while i was opening the door. I grabbed them up quick and held them till everyone else was out. Kids these days have no respect for their elders!!!

I still have a nice black pair of silkies available. Einstein is a nice boy and witchypants is a cute girl, and laying. Im not doing black so i have to let them go. Pm me if you are interested.

Time to go be domestic. Im working all weekend but will try to pop in.
