I love the blues! They're such pretty birds, and my Aussies were super sweet and good natured. They didn't do well in our heat so I'm jealous!

View attachment 1932848 We have 2 new white Silkies from Karen Larson (Catdance). My daughter named them Floof and Frosty . The 3rd egg has one teeny pip and that’s it. The other nothing and they were perfect at lockdown.

So, I see that you specialize in blue ana ALL black marans. I got 3 "Blck Marans" from a guy who didnt know much about chicken breeds. SO, is an all black maran an actual breed?
Yes Solid Black Marans are a real thing. If you go to my photo albums and go to the second page you will see a Marans Folder and there are some solid black ones and solid blues ones in there.

Broke down and candled tonight (Day 9 and 12, respectively, for a staggered hatch). Pulled three clears and a blood ring, sadly including the two mystery bantams which I was looking forward to :(. The three ODs are chugging along fine, tho. The remaining eggs were all too dark-shelled to see through (sage and olive eggers, a couple dark brown, and a blue). I'll have to hunt down a stronger candler if I want to see in there when I candle before first lockdown Thursday night (ODs hatch for us on Day 19, which is Saturday next weekend). Once the three ODs are done, we now have 8 assorted LF of various EE crosses due a few days later.:fl:fl:fl

I was a little concerned about air cells after candling so I left the turner off for a day and then candled last night when I plugged it in. 19/25 shipped eggs are showing development. I'm amazed! Not counting them yet of course, but it's going better than I'd hoped!:fl

hello Hatch-a-long people, I am late to this party LOL, having started my hatch a bit after most of you.

I had planned to wait till next spring to do a hatch but came into some eggs unexpectedly and decided to go ahead and try it. It's turning out to be very high stakes emotionally despite my having planned to be philosophical about it.

I'm at the top of day 17 right now and having some issues/questions if anyone would be willing to give me some guidance?

I wrote about it over here https://www.backyardchickens.com/th...r-sac-temperature-the-whole-kaboodle.1336202/

Many many thanks to all the chicken mamas and papas here for any perspective you can share.

Elise
