I tossed all of the Silkie eggs from the incubator tonight. No luck with this shipped batch. 4 were cracked and began to smell. One started to develop long before shipped, and didn’t make it. And the others didn’t develop.

The shipping box was beat up when I got it. However, had the eggs been double boxed, it might not have been as much of a problem. I have not had any luck with eggs not double boxed.

No more hatches planned until spring.

Can't like this Rockporters. Hope you have better luck in the Spring!

Nothing bothers me more than people who do not put effort into packing their eggs to be shipped.

I am doing Lockdown on Sunday for 32 mutts. I checked a few of them last night and is strange - the chicks are moving, but only fill up half the egg. I don't know if they could grow so fast in 2 days to fill up the whole egg...?
And I candled my last batch for this season - 18 Light Sussex eggs. They were on day 4 last night, I saw veins in at least 10 of them, so I am glad.
Hey was is @FortCluck with the twins?? How are they?

Sorry to hear you aren't having any luck with this batch of shipped eggs, it's always frustrating when someone packs poorly and the eggs don't make the trip well. :( Good luck with your spring hatches, I hope you have better luck the next time you are trying shipped eggs again! :fl

They're doing great so far. We checked them last night and you can see their eyes, it's so awesome.

When is Halloween? Thanks God we do not have this celebration here..
October 31st. I'm doing the Halloween hatch a long. I don't celebrate it except for passing out candy and eating a lot of candy. I was never into it as a kid either.

I'm probably doing a hatch for my birthday so I can get chicks hatching as my bday gift, but I want to hatch from someone else's eggs.
