Oh god help me is this bumble foot?

Wow. I'm so glad you were able to help her. Do you have "after" pics? How's she doing now? I just noticed today that one of my hens has bumble foot in both feet. Not nearly as bad as your girl's, but still freaking me out. I'm dreading operating.

I've been wondering how the Welsummers have been doing, and what the healing wounds look like. I hope we get an update!

Kim, don't hesitate to plow right in and start with a nice long epsom salt soak. That's the key to making the "surgery" much easier! Often, you don't even need to do any cutting after the soak loosens the scabs. They usually can be pried off just using your thumb nail.

Clean out the diseased material thoroughly, use triple antibiotic ointment and wrap. It's really that easy.

Right after I did the surgery she was doing really well but I got put down with pneumonia and in my sickness fog I forgot to close the coop ONCE I NEVER forget to close my coop up but the ONE time I did something got her :( I didn't even see a stray feather :( she was sleeping on the floor as opposed to the roosts because the vet wrap seemed to hinder her grip and she was just gone :( I was so sad and felt so guilty I know it was my fault. I believe that it was actually a crud ball that had went so deep it erupted into the top of the webbing of her foot it may have been a combo of both maybe bumble that had opened then started collecting gunk?

I do hope you get to feeling better. I am sorry for your loss.

Thanks guys I felt like such a heel there I was trying to help her and I forgot the most basic thing "shut the dang coop for duh!" I was very mad at myself. She had such pretty eggs too not super dark like some wellies but speckled and pretty none the less.
