OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I haven't been on lately a lot to read through! Today was hatch day so far 10 chicks out of 25, getting a little better at this =)

Sept 7th is still a go for the swap, it will be at my house. Just to have a idea of who is coming and what they you plan to bring I can see if my dad will help put the word out on dial a deal.

My address is: 16776 Bodman Rd, Mount Orab 45154 if you want to mapquest to see how far it is. If anyone has any questions please feel free to send me a message. It sounds like a lot of fun to meet people and put faces behind names.

This sounds interesting, not too far from me! I've got a handful of young roos that I need to move....Crested Cream Legbars, Mille Fleur Leghorns, Catalanas, and possibly a Lavender Orpington. As well as a couple older pet Silkie roosters. Are you expecting a good turn out?

Hey loveourbirds, the fall Lucasville Show, October 5 & 6, is a "semi" Brahma National meet show, according to the American Brahma Club newsletter. There should be some very nice Brahmas available there.
i dont see many brahmas there, but i know tim has one if i just can get ahold of him. im a regular attendee of that swap. in case you didnt know there is a show the week before, its a good place to find some well bred chickens.

Quote: i can usually tell them at a month old by the way they walk. its not something i can teach but ill try to explain. the males will walk more upright with their chests out, while the hens keep their heads lower and dont stretch their necks as much. you cant always guess a silkie by thier combs, leg diameter will work to an extent. cockerels and roosters have bigger legs. and if this helps, usually hens are fuzzier - again i can see it but i cant explain it.

It's the show Oct. 5 &6 that I'm talking about. The swap is 12 &13.

Stevens21, can you post some pics of the silkies? I am usually pretty good at them. I did raise them for 3 years and was 99% right on them. I had very few I was iffy on and typically whichever I decided they were was what they turned out to be.
