OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hey, Fellow Buckeyes!!!!! Hey, Hi & Hello!!! I am from just outside of Lima, OH. Presently, transplanted in Arkansas. I'm fairly new on BYC but not new to chickens. Hubby and I have hatched, tamed & sold many chickens. Our last group was a mix of RIR's, Barred Rocks, Marans, Orpingtons, Silkies, Bantams & Polish. We have 6 acres, mostly Oaks & Cedars & if I have it my way....the makings of a small barnyard, would make me happy! We are talking about getting chickens, again, & I've been talking about a few goats. I am studying up on those for now! Glad to know there are some Buckeyes on here, makes it feel more like home! YAY!!!

Welcome! Six acres of oaks and cedars sounds amazing! Can't wait to have acreage! We're up in the burbs. What breeds are you considering this time around? Perhaps some Buckeyes? ;)

Hi!! To be honest, I had no idea there were "Buckeye" chickens. I just went and looked them up and read about them. They are quite pretty, I love brown eggs, so, I will definitely consider them for my pens. We haven't yet discussed the varieties we are planning to get but I know I can get what ever ones I want....so, I will get some, if I can find some. I hope to not have to start with chicks. I'd like to get some just a bit younger than layers. I'm looking forward to a break in the weather so hubby and I can get planning. What kind do you have?

Back atcha HugHess! Bet you are getting alot of cold, brrrrr, weather up there on the lakes!! Here in Arkansas, we've just gotten through the last week of cold weather we are "supposed" to get! They never get the weather predicted right here. Let's just hope they are correct and Spring is now starting! Maybe, finally, we will be able to get out, clean up winters mess and make the plans for our chickens and possibly, some goats!! We never had much of a winter...all in all, just a couple weeks of snow. So, no complaints....come on Spring! Hope you are all coping with the winter off the Lakes. (Makes me shiver just thinking about Ohio's cold winds and ice!!! Brrrr....) Bundle up, make a fire and stay warm!
