OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hello, I am looking to purchase some adult female ducks for our two lonely male pekin ducks. We purchased them unsexed from TSC and wouldn't you know it, they all turned out to be males. The yard is tense! Let's just say we call them Bert and Ernie. Does anyone know where I could purchase adult female ducks around the Dayton/Columbus Area?
I found some an hour away from Pataskala which is already 18 miles east of Columbus. I found mine on Craigslist so you might try that. This was last fall and I got a female Khaki Campbell and a female Muscovy 4 months old that have been great. I would try Craigslist. Some places are great and then before that when I bought two ducklings that were on there in no man's land I was afraid I was going to end up on Dateline! It was a really scary place but I got them and ran. Good luck with finding them. Also I had put on here that there was a new law in Ohio stating that ducklings had to be over 4 weeks old to be sold and I was wrong. I reread it and it stated if they are younger than 4 weeks old you have to buy at least 6 from your local feed store or private sellers. Sorry for the misunderstanding.

Hey, I found the Ohioans thread! :D
I'm originally from the Akron/Canton area, lived in the Cleveland suburbs for 23 years before we bought a home on 18 acres in SW Medina county. We're getting chickens this fall - I have an order for August for Cinnamon Queens, Buff Orps, Cuckoo Marans, and Barnevelders. I hope to add a few Easter Eggers later on (already accounting for chicken math!). Fortunately, I'm only about a 40 minute drive from Meyer.
Hello, I have 4 Hens I need to re-home. These are healthy reds that are about 3 years old. Egg production has slowed to usually 2 a day for the 4 of them. Hoping to re-home these to make room for a new flock. Would you like to get started with these girls?

Do you mean production reds? Rhode Island Reds? Sex Links?

Rhode Island Reds. Free to a good home
Oh okay. I was gonna say if they were production reds then culling would probably be more appropriate since they don't live much past 3 years anyway. But RIRs do live longer. I'm in Cleveland too but can't really take in any more right now. Sorry. Hope you find someone.

Otherwise, if you're comfortable with it, RIRs are decent meat birds. Since it seems like your plan is to replenish your flock every few years, learning to harvest your own meat might make sense. It can be hard to give away layers who have slowed down, although there are people who will take them (I have taken in a few in the past). Either way, I'm not telling you what to do. Just throwing ideas out there. Good luck. :)

Good morning folks, we had some snow here yesterday. Getting tired of it. :)
We had sleet and rain because I am 18 miles East of Columbus. I am just thankful for the mild winter we had here. I only had to carry water from the kitchen sink twice because of outside spigot being froze up and the only real snow we got was our white Christmas. God is Good. My Ducks were Blessed and so was I. Sorry you are where there was worse weather.

Not yet but I have seen some butterflies and bees! But they all are hiding again now with this ugly, cold weather.
I woke to 1/2" snow on the ground gone now thank God! I had to bring my ducklings in the house it got so cold up here in Ashtabula, Ohio. I grabbed the brooder box and all. I like keeping an eye on them. ❤️
