) and I am just starting out with my Silkie and Showgirl flock! I am hoping to have birds/hatching eggs available in the fall since I'm totally hooked on chicks...thank you for this support group...I also have 5 LF youngsters growing happily into layers - Faith (EE) Hope (EE) Charity (Brown Leghorn) Joy (PBR) Grace (BSL). I just replied to an ad on CL for some Austrolorp and Buff Orp pullets so I hope to be adding more to the "working girls". PLUS I'm crazy excited waiting for Sydneylou's current hatch to take place since I'm hopeful for a bunch of black Silkie chicks to make their new home in Cardington!!! YEAH!!!

Welcome to all and I love hearing about everyone's chicken kids!!

Hey all you buckeyes.
I am from Ada. Its near Lima. I have black silkies, white silkies, new hampshire reds and golden buffs, and some fat lazy xrocks. I will be changing my red/buffs over to buckeyes in a few weeks. Gotta keep the breed alive. I have only been raising chickens for a year but I am hooked.

Karivan, I am right down the road from you! in Mantua. Welcome to our neck of the woods. Aurora is a nice place. If you need any help or advice (for what it's worth) or to share stories let me know!

Thank you! We love it there & drive through Mantua all the time when we go out exploring (or heading to Carlton Harley

Jealous, we really need a trip that way! Lots of friends there on the IL side since I went to school at SIUE. Don't forget to make a stop at Fast Eddie's!

I go to County Line Ag in Harrod, Ohio for my feed. Like $15 or $16 for 50 pounds. They mix their own feed there too. The only think is it costs $10 to start the mill. So the more bulk you buy the cheaper it gets. They can mix however you want. Their number is 419-648-3277. Hope this helps.

Tell me about Fast Eddie's. I LIKE food and new hole in the wall places!
Fast Eddie's is iconic in the STL area! The food is cheap & delicious & they have lots of drinks/beers with great prices too. It's a hole in the wall without being a hole in the wall. It's nearly always packed, especially on the weekends or when bands are there so depending on what time, it may be standing room only. Still worth it! We usually try to get there early so we have a place to site & then stay the whole night

It's got a totally unique atmosphere, or at least one I haven't found anywhere else. It is 21+ all the time so if there are any kiddos, make sure you leave them at home. Have a fun & safe trip!
