***OKIES in the BYC III ***

I love how Okie's are so helpful & thank you guys!!!!

Let leave anyone that is already signed up stay as they are until everyone else picks something. As we get closer if we are still lacking in any area I will make a post for what is needed.

Ok, and Thanks for calling me an Okie. No one has ever called me that before. We will have been here 8 years July 3rd. We were in San Diego 8 years before that. So it has bee 16 years since I was in Japan and met my Texan husband. This has been a long journey for this Michigander to find home.

yeah, i would, i do that with mine, enough so they can see, what i have readd is getting hair jell and sculpting it up too- they are a pretty pair!

Robin I thin k I need to do some trimming on your silkies so they can see, what do you think? I don't want them to look pruned on when you get them but don't think the girl can really see that good.

here is how i trim mine...by the way..toots decided to crow yesterday....

Boy we went from the high 80s to the 66s today and 40s tonight. But it was a beautiful day. I was busy putting cages together for the auction tomorrow. Did good till I unloaded feed and pulled a muscle in my back. Now if I move jsut right it hurts like heck!
Excited to be going to the huge Amish sale tomorrow. There is always so much to see. I drove by there today on the way to get feed and the twenty acres was already filling up with all kinds of old tractors and horse drawn equipment ,tools ,lumber, etc. By daylight the birds and critters will start flowing in. I'll try and get lots of pics.

That must be an awesome auction to see!

Love seeing everyone's pics, esp.the chicks.
I have 25 cochins chicks in one brooder. That is alot of fluffiness. I need to take some pics too.
I got 10 chicks from my first tray in my incubator. I started with 38 so that isn't a good hatch rate but one of my Mille Fleur roos isn't fertile or had a too fluffly butt. I trimmed him and his girls two weeks ago so maybe next weeks hatch will be better.

Stopped by Michaels tonight & dropped by some chicks & a returned a mean roo I had gotten from him. Lots of people were there chicken shopping. Spotted a mama & few day old baby chick out foraging in michaels yard. They were cute to watch for a while. Then DD spotted a silkie hen. Poor girl is in rough shape. Her wing feathers look tore up. Not sure if it was from getting messed with by other birds or something else. Even though the only intention was to drop off chicks we still ended up bringing home the silkie. She rode on DD lap home, she is such a calm lady. We put her in our old "city coop" and she will have my silkie cross roo for a companion. That little roo tries to take on my NN roo. Pretty funny to watch, but I need to separate them before someone gets hurt.

We plan on being @ Newcastle tomorrow. Don't think we are bringing anything. We have a dz or so cuckoo marans that have hatched. DD may decide to take those.

What is to eat tomorrow, did i miss the announcement? Hope it is something my girls will eat. If not I will be running to get some dinner before the auction.

I have the hatcher Full!!
And almost re-filled the Incubator

Guy I moved either 98 or 108 to the hatcher for you, I would normally offer to hold them for a day or two till it was convient for you but I have so many it's not funny, I will be short on brooder space myself.

Looking forward to a new day, I'm a bit tired and almost cought up with myself for the moment.

Totally understand Carl. Let me know which day Monday or Sunday. Sounds like I will have to bring a bigger box this time

Robin, that EE mix just might be a girl.
Wayne, those Buff Silkies are gorgeous-wow! I'm going to try the hair gel idea on a couple of mine tomorrow. Everytime I give them haircuts I mess it up.
Christina, I'm anxious to hear how the Silkie does. Your daughter has a heart of gold and so does her mama.

Got you 2 dozen eggs, you may have to remind me as I seem to forget things and it would suck if I haul them down and back then remember them.

Cowboy don't worry DD want forget. Thanks so much for saving the eggs. She was asking who was bringing the eggs & I said cowboy. She said whats his real name -- so told her Guy. She said seriously MOM! Told her to ask you herself then.

She loves all animals. I am sure she will spend the day caring that poor silkie around with her. So far the silkie doesn't mind, hopefully it will continue to tolerate her love. I think with good protein it will feather back in nicely. I will have to read up on silkies and see if there is anything extra I can do to help her. We did put ACV in her water, thought about giving her a bit of cat food for an instant protein boost. In silkie terms a full meal would be like 5 or 6 pieces of cat food right?
