Mine are doing great, raising some babies for food though, and a few to replace some of the older layers. That araucana boy I had Ari has his own little harem at TonyO's place, and I am looking for a home for Little man the new little araucana male looks like he will be hanging out at Tony's place too. I wouldn't mind keeping him by three roos are just to much for my girls they all look ragged and bare backed from the roos. The dubias are thriving and the freezer is working great as a dubia house, I did just feed out the meal worms they never took off well and were just a bother.
How is the wire pen? Did you figure out how to set it up? I probably am going to miss it. It would be a good tractor-type.I just picked up some Blue Cuckoo (project birds) and Blue Wheaton Marans yesterday. I hope they turn out well. The Cuckoos need work on the barring but they are pretty birds. I think I am going to try and help this project along. I am going to bring some birds to Newcastle to make room for them. Too many birds too fast. Having trouble keeping up lol. I will take some pictures of these marans when they feather out a little more and show them to Jack to get his opinion. I also got a mystery maran chick for free. it has chipmunk markings so it should be interesting.

For Ameraucanas, I have found that looking at the feathers above their tails at this age is the best way to tell. If the feathers have rounded ends - girls. If they are narrow and taper to a point - boys. Ameraucanas are hard to tell. The comb color can be a clue too. For example; the red comb of your Splash in the last picture makes me suspect it is a Roo. I agree that #3 is a pullet and #4 a roo. I think #1 is a pullet too just by the way it holds its head. But I have been wrong before. I swear they can change their minds asbout what they are untill they decide to crow or lay.I am going to bring some blue ameracaunas to the auction on saturday but I need some help. I think one of them is a roo and one is rumpless. My question is is one of these a roo and is the one without tail feathers an ameracuana or just an EE. I really don't want to look like and idiot and say they are something they are not. Please help.
#1 rumpless
#2 Pullet?
#3 Pullet?
#4 Roo?
