Okies in the BYC The Original

Oh and the same weekend there is also a pigeon show going in the north end of the building too. There is always a bunch of cross trading going on. That is the Heart of America exhibition building just north of Shawnee. Now off to the left, out of frame there are vendors such as Smith Poultry Supply so you can stock up on meds and cage building stuff and all of your poultry needs. In the little room to the rear of the pic there is a for sale area Carla so you could bring some birds to sell and everyone brings extra birds to sell that are not in the area. Since it is the end of the show season people do some liquidation to get ready for the spring breeding season.

It is an incredible show

A few of us Okies from here on the BYC met up there last year. We really got to know each other better, enjoyed talking 'chicken, and did a little bit of bird swaping

I believe we were going to try meeting up again this year at that show

Anyway, here is a thread talking more about our fun time last year

Here is apic of me with a Black Jersey Giant cockerel that I bought while there, some of his pen mates went to champion's row at the show in Guthrie.

And I would be very interested in a meet-up, that would be cool.

I can't talk chickens today, but just had to share the little visitor we had a couple days ago. Apparently, this little guy thought he needed to go to work with my husband. The bird just sat and stared at him while he loaded up his stuff and waited until he got a stick and shooed him out before leaving.

is it allowed to show a black frizzled cochin bantam in any of these poultry shows. I would like to start showing a few of my chickens but I dont know any of the rules and regulations. Do you have to have your chickens vaccinated?

Depending on the state you are in the only requirement is an NPIP cert. Some states also require an Avian Influenza test along with a test for Exotic Newcastles Disease. Where are you located? I'm not familiar with the Frizzles, what other breeds do you have?

It was shortened to one day last year due to the pending ice storm. If I had known how bad the storm was gonna be I would have just booked a room in Shawnee and stayed there for ten days.
