Oh my goodness, it has been raining constantly for the past 2 days at my house. I just looked at a weather report that says my county (Grady) is under a flood warning this morning.

I'm afraid to go look at my chicken pens. I sure hope the birds are all staying in their shelters.

Gerald is wanting to take off work tonight to go to the Durant/Blue auction. I don't know ... with the rain we've been having, it might not be a good idea, although Durant area might not be too bad.

poultryand bees, I'll look to see if there are any pedigreed flemish giants at the auction.

I think it was raining pretty good in Durant yesterday afternoon. Bossman was near Durant around noon and said it was just pouring down so it took him a little longer to get back to the plant.

It was raining here nearly all day. We're still getting a few sprinkles. The ground is just mush...

Well Ladies, I know we are all tired of the rain but, I will take that anyday over 100 plus temps..

I just can't take that heat and humidity.. and I think my birds believe they are Ducks, as they are all out looking for worms, they didn't even grab at my shoe laces this morning..

I have the hardest time getting out of the pen without a bird on my shoe.. Crazy Chickens

Oh I so know that feeling Okieboy, I usually have them on my feet. I wear them plastic crogs things, easy to clean up, and they have holes all in the top, well I think they think my shoes are feeders. I am so glad the heat and humidity is gone, ac is off and windows open. My smokey house needed some airing out.

Gerald checked all the chickens this morning. Only one pen (the 1-2 month old chicks) had caualties, and only the brabanter and spitzhauben chicks. The silkies, guineas, and turkeys are doing well, but apparently the others weren't smart enough to go in the shelter.

Very true for me, annoying too because they gather around me and make it hard for me to take a step without stepping on a few of them!

I'll take the rain over the 100 deg temps, no problem. I just need lots of sand to solve my drainage issues.

Thank goodness for the rain! I know its been alot for everyone else, but we're thankful for it here in Chickasha! We really stood on our porch last night and watched the grass turn green.

Grady county fair starts Thursday, chicken show starts at 12:30 Saturday, if anyone's interested. I'm hoping to leave work early to go. I'm entering the cake contest on Thursday. Come bid on them that night!

Grace, so glad you're back!!!

I cannot wait to go to Shawnee, but I'm worried that I will want to bring everything home. Oh I miss the country life. *sigh*

Buckguy, did you just do a Carmen Sandiego parody??? Maybe I'm mistaken... Do let us know if you hear from Okiechick, I've been worried about her myself.

Foghorn, thanks for the bunny show information! I don't know if I'll be able to make it, but I'm going to try.

Firefighter do you want new or used and cabinet or tabletop? We found a used cabinet type on Ebay that was only 15 miles away and got it for 250.00. You might also put out the word locally with an ad at the feed store. Ive found people using them as storage in the past!

Today was the judging of the poultry at the Ottawa County fair and he got......

Champion Heavy Duck - Chocolate Muscovy

Reserve Medium Duck - Crested White Duck

Champion Continental and Champion Large Fowl - Salmon Faverolle hen

Reserve Champion Continental - Salmon Faverolle roo

Reserve Champion RCCL - Black Rosecomb hen

Champion Feather Legged, Champion Bantam and BEST OF SHOW!! on a Black Bantam Cochin hen

I am so proud of all the hard work he has done helping me keep these birds in condtion and getting them ready for the fair. He would now like to take some of them to Tulsa. Has anyone done this?? How does that work, does the birds stay for multiple days?? We live a hour and a half away and driving back and forth to care for them is not possible.

Okay I guess I am done bragging now!!
