DutchChic, if you still have the birds, I am still considering them.... So, was that 6 Silvers and 9 Golds for the $100 or trade?

Cammie, thanks (about my Hamburgs on the Poultry Press website), they are my little show stars! lol
I got this Spitzhauben from 6 eggs from Carla; it is a Silver pullet and oh, so cute!
Can't wait to see you again.. and Clark, for the first time

Yes, the show is this Saturday, they start judging at either 8:00 or 9:00, and stop when they run out of birds! *lol* I think we left there at... 3:00 last year, but we had to stay a little longer for the awards.
And, you definitely have a specialty with raising 'people-chickens'! That older MF d'Uccle I got from you is, surprisingly, more personable than her father!

Do you not work for Atwoods anymore??

Luvs, wow, 159 chickens... I am so jealous!

And,*gasp* you have Buff d'Uccles for sale! Too bad I don't live closer!!

Stimpy,

And, yes, I will be at the Newcastle show!

BrickerGuess, that is so sad about the Pittsburg County 4-H trailer being stolen! Most of that stuff is so much more 'expensive' in terms of the time, joy, and expectations that went into making it, then something you could make money off of! I just don't see how someone could take that away from those kids

WDPKS(Bill), I have never been to the 4 Cornor show in NM, but I have heard that it is a fantastic show, and worth it just as a vacation!!

nnbreeder, thanks for letting us know about the posted information for Shawnee - here is a link if anyone wants to check it out

mikarod,

Grace, I'd forgot about that d'Uccle! I'd thought it would be a pullet. Glad to hear its doing well. All my birds were my babies, I sat in the pens with them everyday.

I'm hoping Clark will come. It will just depend on when our cattle help is arriving.

I can't believe this, but Chickenstock AND the Shawnee show are both scheduled on the two days that my sister has pom squad competitions.

I can't make Chickenstock, but the Shawnee show is only an hour away from where we'll be, so maybe I can squeeze it all in!

I was thinking it could be a bantam Sultan, since it's as small as the silkies, but doesn't seem to have black skin. The splash silkie is mostly white, but has a blue tinge deep in it's down. Pretty much the same as my splash Orps when they are chicks. Sorry I can't do a pic right now. Yep...Silkies have alien feet...lol.

Grace,

I'm glad you'll be at Newcastle Saturday. Like I said, I'm looking forward to putting faces with the names on here.

I like your webpage too. You did i great job there.

I'm sure that I'll be hatching some of your eggs in the near future. I probably shouldn't, but I have absolutely no will power.

Luvz, The Jones auction is Saturday OCT.11, at 5 p.m. You can start taking birds at noon. It is tight on main street in Jones, you can't miss it.
I'll be out today to look at your birds.
Monty

she recently molted in 30 percent white... a DARLING.

well, they are all darlings, all my babies. but must spread the joy so we can raise some more...

btw, one each unless noted.

monty, gimme call first, will have a new chicken friend here as well.

mikarod, those are 2 blue roos... surely all you need is one, right?

kkm, waving atcha!

carla, wish we could make it to ALL THESE GATHERINGS...

Ronnie... that is the cutest chick! Strange podiatry situation though. The darn things suck me right in when they are little. And when they are big. Going to Cement this weekend. Have to get rid of some Banty roos. I ended up with 5 of them.

Would like to keep them all, but then hubby would have to build a new coop. Hubby will be building a new coop for TURKEY! (he doesn't really know that yet) I want a tom for a pet. Bourbon Reds are so pretty... we will have to see....

dont mean to be a pain but i have a question...
does anyone know where i can get some laying hens or close to laying age fairly cheap and delivered....my car isnt doing well and hubby needs it to make it to work so any unecessary travel is out.
thanks

Not sure if I should cull the little guy or not. I hate to, but he/she does seem to get around just fine for now. You wouldnt know its feet where like that if you saw it run or walk.

HennyPennies2007. I HIGHLY recommend Bourbon reds. I had a nice flock going several years back before dogs broke in the pen (dug under the coop). They would fallow me arond like a puppy. And 1 of my toms and 1 of the hens always flew up on my shoulders (its hurts) when they first saw me. They are a treat to have an eat a TON of bugs. Ive watched mine focus on fly's then snatch them off blades of grass.

EDIT: Go to the for sale forum. There was an okie in there in Miami with several chickens for sale. I want to say it was slightly cracked but I could be wrong.

Edit: here is a link to the add. looks like they are all bantams. https://www.backyardchickens.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=92624
