Happy New Year Everyone, hope you've had a good Holiday.

I'm off to buy paint for the kitchen and plot how to get a possum to relocate. I've seen him twice now, he seems to like my back deck as much as I do.

Did you just call me an idiot?

I've been around. Mostly just kinda stopping by to read what others are writing and trying to keep up with all the goin's on.

How are ya?

Anybody can be a weatherman, but you have to have a degree that says you can look like a TV personality in a suit.

Can't believe this year is already over, I'm not ready! *ha* So does anyone have big plans for this year?? Mine is to start my career, rather than continue with my worthless job.

It's great to have you! I have 2 dachshunds myself... aren't they the best? They are stubborn and ornery, but I guess I am too... maybe that's why we get along so well!! HAHAH!

My mother would like to sell her Rooster and hens. The roo and one of the hens is a dominque (beautiful)...
They are young (not yet laying, about 7 mths old), except for 2 hens...and they are molting, they have been good layers.
She lives at Mansfield, 2 miles from the Oklahoma border...and below Ft. Smith, AR.
Please PM or email me if interested.
**These are not culls....she is selling due to circumstances. My Dad died.*
She will also take a lump sum price.

Are all of our Okies AWOL?
I haven't been on line much since before Christmas but I hope to get back in the groove after this weekend.
I posted on the Okie Auction topic but will do so here as well. If anyone has any new auction info, changes etc. let me know and I will try and update the auction list.

Have to brag on my Hubby.... dug a huge 70 ft. trench and ran power out to the coop. Hubby set up outlets and a timer for lamps and stuff.... He is awesome... I am humbled by his great love for me and my hennies (or his great desire to shut us up).

Hope all okies are well. This weather is great for outdoor chores, but we could really use some rain out this way. Wheatfields are looking anemic.

Is anyone going to the Cement Poultry Auction on Saturday? I'm assuming they're still having the auction monthly, as long as the weather is good. I hear that it'll be really nice weather on Saturday and then cold on Sunday.

I sure wish we could go to the Chupps Auction Saturday morning, but it's just too far a drive for us

It's so much fun to visit with fellow Okies at the auctions & watch the birds & supplies go thru

Gosh, I wish all the auction houses would sell movie theater popcorn ... that fella eatin' popcorn has me wanting some now.

Well I come everyday and lurk, does that count for anything?!

My hubby built me little chicken huts yesterday. We took the BIG tubs cattle mineral come in and turned the upside down, cut a hole in the side, then used the hole that was cut out to make a overhang so the water wouldn't run in when it rained. And I LOVE them. They look like bright red baseball caps.

Carla the chicks we got from you are doing well. We have had some losses, but I think that was due to them squishing each other trying to stay warm during that cold snap. Even with 2 heat lamps on them we still had squishing going on.

There is 1 big turken that I named Lurch. he reminds me of the butler off the Adam's Family he is so funny, he is so easy going and takes everything in stride.

Hubby says we have TOO many chicks!!

And I have OEGB in the incubator. As soon as it get warm then he doesn't notice how many birds I have.

But right now with babies tucked away with heat lamps and the new bantam leghorns and wyandottes in seperate pens I think he is overwhelmed. But he puts up with them cuz' he loves me!!

I am glad I don't live down you guy's way i would always be at the auctions and be DIVORCED!!!

I'm glad the chicks are doing well. Yeah, about the only time I lose a chick is when we move a big group to a bigger pen. The new guys always climb on top of each other & the one's on the bottom sometimes get squashed. For some reason ... they bunch up in the corners.

You should take pic's of your chicken huts. I'd love to see what they look like. It sounds like a great idea!

Oh, and about being overwhelmed by too many chickens ... I get that way a lot too. Every now & then I tell Gerald we have too many birds. He has selective hearing though!
