Sounds like I don't need to worry about finding time to attend the Noble auction any time soon. I still haven't been to the Blanchard auction either. I may have to try that one this Spring.

This year, I am going to limit the quantity of chickens I raise for eggs, to the number that I can keep within a 50x50 yard and one hen house. In the past I have allowed the chickens to free range on a couple acres of pasture, but this year I am putting in a garden that I don't want the chickens to see. I don't think the guineas or turkeys will hurt the garden too badly, but chickens decimated my turnips and tomatoes a few years ago. They pecked large holes in the top of the turnips that were above ground. I was surprised that the chickens liked the turnips as well as they did.

I want to grow some produce for the express purpose of feeding it to the chickens, but I think it only fair that I get to decide when they eat it.

Marybeth,
I know you voted to have POOPS at the KOA place but I think there were only three maybe four of us that want it there. It would be great for me since it is close by but I just want to get everyone together. So I if Lexington works out, that is great. I may go down Monday to check it out. Everything I know about it is hear say.

I have never attended the Lexington auction, so am picturing the Maud auction in my mind - from the descriptions of others. I am glad you are going to check it out. If they have any runner ducks that sell for less than $4, you have my proxy to buy half a dozen for me.

Since the runner ducks don't fly, I should be able to keep them out of the garden and I love watching them run around in a tight group.

I believe there is just one, Guy Rose Auction, in between perkins and stillwater. It is hit or miss, some weeks there are tons of chickens, both bantams and standards, normally roos more common. Prices are all over the place, depending on how many traders are there, sometimes roos frequently go 12 and above, here lately you cant touch a hen for under 12-15. Normally there is a good amount of pigeons. A few peafowl, a turkey every once in awhile, geese are common. Of course I have also been there when there were only 3 or 4 birds too.

AL, we have one granddaughter and after raising three boys, we are glad we had boys. The screaming gets old quickly. It is great that they want you to make them banana splits. I still remember when my dad made apricot milkshakes for my friends during a sleepover when we were in the 6th grade. Those milkshakes were talked about for a long time and several tried, unsuccessfully, to duplicate them.

OK thanks

Hey Al, Enjoy every minute of it.
My daughter is 20 now and things change when they get older.
Now, we are boring and she has friends to see.
Us boring? I can't imagine a more fun place for a 20 year old to be than home with mom and dad.

Monty, the only child who wants to hang out with us right now is our 5 year old grandson. The older grandchildren are too busy and if I want to see our 20 year old son, I have to drive to Edmond and buy his lunch. Otherwise, he mainly stays in touch by email or text message.
