Dande - that is just awful. My neighbors just let their dogs out the front door. When they are ready for the dogs to come in, it takes about 15 minutes of yelling for the dogs to get them in. These are the same dogs that kept trying to dig under my chicken pen. One well placed shot with a BB deterred that habit. I hit a dog once. It came out of nowhere and glanced off my fender. I felt awful afterwards. He got up and ran away, but I never did see this dog again. I drive by the house everytime I go to my kids' school.

Henny - thanks for the support. It is severely windy here. For some strange reason, I chose to wear my hair down for the first time in a month, big mistake. I now have a headache from it whipping around while I was in town. We had frost on the ground yesterday and I think it killed my pumpkins. They were the only thing left in the garden other than parsley. I can't seem to get rid of that stuff this year. I have cut it back four times this summer and it is about a foot tall again.

Well I am not gonna complain we had sun all day long and as we were in the process of doctoring the new silkies it became cloudy and started to rain AGAIN!!!!!! Calling for rain all night and most of the day tomorrow!! I have started my chicken plucker and I think I have all the parts except the bungy cords I plan to have it done by this weekend!!! Welcome to Okiegirl pull up a chair and make yourself at home its the best place for good information and some good jokers to!!!

CT if you didn't see it earlier, I'm VERY happy with the birds I got from you. They are SO pretty and get along great with my other birds. The only problem I have is that the mixed breed you gave me is a very smart and very quick little thing. She knows my times of going up there and is out in the yard quicker than you can say anything. LOVE THEM~!!!

100 laying hens is a lot to invest in at one time. I suspect it will take several folks to supply that many - particularly if they are looking for brown egg layers. Otherwise, they might be able to get some second year layers from one of the poultry growers that replaces their laying flock every year.

But aren't we supposed to listen to the Teach? That's what I remember from school. Although it's been a while.
