MFC = Monty Fried Chicken

Ooh that sounds good. I think we'll have HFC and mashed taters for dinner tonight. Better go get that huge bird outta the freezer!

Last trip to the store I made myself buy meat...I hate paying the price for that stuff Walmart calls meat. But I guess it's better than the alternative (nothing). Been meteing it out though...no pun intended.....trying to eat more veggies and stuff.

And taking 2 tbsp of honey 2X daily. Has done wonders for my esophagus and ulcers and colitis.....I'm off my stomach meds about 3 weeks now. So far...so good....

I had an episode after we had all the rain in October with some respiratory stuff. I isolated the sickies and treated them and then the whole flock. Everything is looking good now. (Knocking on Wood)

I had a round of cociliousis early in the summer but other than that nothing. I have read alot of stuff on the BYC on different ailments. It does seem like alot of stuff but I think alot of it has to do with the crazy rain we had (at least here in Oklahoma).

I hate paying the price for meat. Thank goodness that I have a freezer and stock up during sales. We have also raised our own hogs to butcher. I would like to do a cow but never have.

That is great news Henny!! Glad you are off some of the meds.

That's the thing...

They know they can't replace me! lol! I've been with Wal-Mart 5 years, was a cashier and am now CSM. They already said they'll do what it takes to keep me there. The turnover rate is HUGE at this particular Wal-Mart. The CSM that was hired the same time as me quit on her 3rd month, another two are leaving in December and January and another is becoming a department manager. So that leaves 2 CSMs and nobody wanting to transfer or become one..

And Lord knows the managers don't like to be at the front end!

We can't hire or keep enough cashiers...so that's always fun. It's because of the stupid "look at 3, hire 1." What moron thought that up...

I too stock up during sales on pork anyways, I don't buy beef (don't really eat much beef). Do you still raise your own hogs to butcher. My father In-law raises beef cattle, if I can make a deal with him when he butchers another cow (don't know when that will be)
maybe I can get a side of it and trade you for some pork. His cattle are free ranging on over 500 acres, of course he also supplements during the winter months with prarie hay and grain/pellets (don't know what brand or anything been a while since I helped him last feed them).

I butcher everything from our stuff. I do both types of jerky...ground and sliced...I use a slicer for the whole jerky. It is very uniform and thin that way and dries nicely...my jerky gun is all metal! Around my house it has got to be Dad proof! had a plastic one...didn't make it the season...my metal one is several years old! Great for making sticks...like slim jims...

nothing sick aorund my place...hardly have anything left though!

I get all the major holidays off! Yup we are working on a Lab!

Hi, all. Just want to remind y'all about our screening of FRESH, the movie . I'm hoping to see some of my BYC Okie friends there, especially some of the local ones like Jeannie, Al, kimmphil, gb1 and others I can't recall offhand.

I got a call from a recent Salitan Polyface apprentice on Monday who plans to attend, and Joel Salatin is one of the featured players of the film. He will be doing a talk on his Polyface experiences as well as a question/answer session. I thought that would be a nice touch to the evenings.

Buster,

I love your signature.

Well, I had better get to some outside chores now. It had turned into a beautiful day and must not waste anymore of it inside cleaning. And it is warmer out there than inside, darn old house.

We aren't raising any right now. If we get another set I will let you know. Right now I have chickens & goats taking up the space for the hogs. LOL. It isn't something that we keep going at all times.
