Morning folks. Hope everyone is getting their cafenie ratio this morning.

Sunny and clear this morning, going to be in high 80's,chance of showers.

I have to build a pen around a broody this morning. I thought the other hens would lay else where but no they insist on laying with her!So she has a pot of about 20 eggs now! And I can't tell which are the fresh ones!

Mil is starting to be her contrary self again. I told her yesterday that the other sister wouldn't be comming after her till the 4th of july and when wife got home she started screaming and bi%*@ing that she was just going to take a bus home!(last bus trip 3 years ago was a disaster, bus com. threatened to set her off!).She won't act out if I'm in the room but if I step out she goes off on wife. So wife feels guilty and wants to let her have her way. Neither daughter can face the fact that senility is taking over and they have to be the parent now. I feel for them but it comes a time when you have to swallow hard and take control. Okay sorry, thats my rant for the day!lol

Ihope there is an auction this weekend here,I need a chicken fix!lol

Wayne you are such a good guy! I know that is hard on you and your wife & you are so good to support your wife! I hope she settles down for you guys.

I also hope you get a chicken fix this weekend. I know that I would like to mess with mine other than feed & move on. I had one of the younger one's fly into my chest it was so excited to see me this morning. LOL, messed up my shirt but made me smile.

Today will be my only day to get ready for the lake this weekend & I have no idea how I am going to get it all done. Guess I will start calling home giving the kids a list of "to do's". Gosh I am looking forward to it. Don't think I will get to ski due to my knee hurting but at least I will get to chill out.

We got a nice, soft rain this morning. Temperatures in the barn range from 70 to 90, depending upon how close you are to the brooders. POOPS babies are spry today! Our grand daughter took care of the food and water for all the babies. Watching her fuss and work to get the feeders and water containers just right makes my heart light. Cherish your kids and grand kids. Don't miss a minute with them.

We're cleaning out the new (used) 1502 today. Looks good so far. I think I'll run all the egg trays through the dishwasher. Anyone have thoughts about using the hatching tray or not? The hatching tray on this one is pristine. It's never been used. The guy who ran this incubator said he always moved his eggs to a Styrofoam incubator to hatch because he didn't want to have the door to the cabinet incubator open for cleaning after a hatch. Thoughts, anyone?

I'm taking some birds to Collinsville on Saturday. Anyone else going? My pen space is limited, so I need to make some decisions on Friday about which birds I really want to keep. DH keeps reminding me that I can't keep them all, so now I need to be a realist and figure out which birds fit into next year's plans.

I think it would depend on how close you set your hatches... if you waited a week or so between batches, it'd be okay to clean the bottom out. You do have to remember to turn the turner off if you're hatching though, unless you have one of those screen tops that keeps the chicks from jumping out of the tray. Subsequently, you have to remember to turn the turner back on once you're done hatching! I think he had a good idea if you have some reliable foam incubators for hatching.

Greetings and happy Wednesday all! Sounds like everyone is busy.

Sooner - hope everyone in your family gets healthy soon!

Wayne -

I second Sooner's comment about how good you are to support your wife and help her with your MIL.

Stray! I missed it - what breed of chirping creature is the WFCB? Good luck on more hatching!

Donnie...Donnie....Donnie.... (That made me laugh - P&B is funny!) I hope you find those missing eggs before they find you. Are you sure they aren't already set in one of your many many incubators?

P&B I'm glad to hear that guineas actually lay their eggs in a nest. At my folks' place guinea eggs are just laying around all over the yard. I think their dog finds them and carries them around. For the longest time I thought guineas just laid as they ranged instead of finding a nesting area... Good luck getting those eggs off the top of the flight pen - be careful!

Sounds like another furiously busy day at the Holloway household - once the coffee IV kicks in. I have had to change to drinking iced tea in the morning - it's too hot in my house to drink coffee.

Good morning Robin!

Hey Poco - I think the little blue Marans I picked out from your cage at POOPS is actually a little roo. I hope I'm wrong, but his tail feathers are too pointy. So much for my chick sexing skills!

Good luck with your rooster Cuban - hope he makes it!

Monty - are you in Baja Oklahoma yet?

Sounds like a "camping "wekend for a lot of folks. Take some sun screen!

City anything exciting going on in your summer? Hope you have some free time to enjoy yourself. Hey I see where they are thinking of moving Bells to Coweta! What do ya think on that?

Sooner ,yep get them kids to packing for the lake. Bribe em!lol Tell the less yopu have to do the quicker everyone gets to go and the happier you are the happier they will be!hehehe!

Poco your going to have to work on hubby, convince him that yeah you really need to keep them all,at least till spring -then do the culling!lol. Yeah your right doesn't work on my wife either!

City,

I sent you a PM. I'm happy to swap your cockerel for a pullet if we can arrange a time and place to make the trade. I'll be at the informal swap in Collinsville Saturday morning. I'll be there between 7 and 8 a.m.

... it's Snake season in Oklahoma. Yikes! Everyone be careful... they are on the move.

Please visit Oklahoma Snakes to see Venomous and Non-Venomous snakes in Oklahoma. Thanks.

... we have already had 6 snakes in the last four days in coops and our yard. And it's only May... it'll only get worse from here.

You are too kind - I picked the bird out myself and it is my mistake, but I will take you up on your very generous offer and trade him for a pullet. I responded to your PM!

I've got "visit family" on my list for the summer - which means I'll be driving all over creation - road trip!! Other than that, nothing really...which is fine with me! I did hear about Bells moving to Coweta - I think it would be good for Bells and the Broken Arrow/Coweta/Haskell/Wagoner area. I hope they can make it work. I heard someone else comment "Same dump, different place" about it - so I hope they can keep it nice and maintained if they move Bells there.
