HELP HELP!!1 My birds are dying!

i have no idea if i am posting this is the right part but i posted it elsewhere too since i wasnt sure!!!!

HELP!
my chickens are dying! they were fine last night and now today i have found 3 dead........2 wfbs and my single st. wht cochin. There ARE More that are looking horrible. head hangin, lethargic. i am noticing blood in diarhea. most affected are my pullets and a few cockerals. they are now almost 3 mo old. there are no swellings, injuries. i have wormed them. i have only these chickens together that i got all at one time as chicks. they were vaccinated too. the only other birds i have are turkeys which are no kept in the same area. as far as i know they have no been exposed to anything. geeshhhhhhhh...........anyway, any ideas? they are under shade so they arent getting too hot. i did switch over to pellet in place of crumbles this past week. that is about the only chg i can think of. what the heck is going on?????? if i lose these birds i will not be doing this again! thanks all and i hope i post this in the right place.

Critter I am not the best on this but when you say blood in the poo, I think Cociliousis & if that is what it is you need to get corid & start treatment.

I am interested to see what anyone else has to add. I would also find NNBreeder & send him a PM.

Hi, just posted an answer for you- i am sure folks here can trace it for you, but with all the rain we have been having, might be something toxic in the soil? what are their living areas like? i'd get them on the corvid, are they on medicated feed? also, since they are used to crumbles, i'd stick with that

So sorry critter! Blood in poop sounds like coccidiosis and is not surprising considering the wet humid conditions lately. How old are your birds - do you know if the chick starter you've been feeding them is medicated? Robin is right - Go to the feed store and look for Corid - or some kind of Amprolium medication - you put it in their water. You can use Sulmet, too I think, but I've seen more people recommend Corid. Atwoods should have it if you have one in your area. Also, try giving them some plain unsweeted yogurt. NNbreeder may be on later and he can give you the real info...Buckguy may have some ideas, too if you have his number. Good luck Lori!!

edited to add: What Robin & Sooner said!

hi i got your other post.......sorry i keep jumping around. i really need to figure this place out. anyway, will grab more crumbles while at lumber 2 along with the corid. as for the pen they are in.........we are almost done with the permanant coop and pen but they have been temp staying in a dog run with cement bottom. This run was used for my dog that i lost in the fires. i wonder if the soil could have been contaminated by the fires or somthing???? i am grasping at straws as i really can not understand what is happening. They have all been very healthy and no problems at all. no medicated feed and i did have them immunized when i got them. thank you again

Noticed my beautiful gray showgirl (half lav) was looking a little slow yesterday, and again this morning. Went on to my day's activity and when I came home right into the house to set up a hospital cage for her. However, when I went out, she was dead. I don't know what was wrong with her but I DO know what killed her--it was obvious. A snake had tried to swallow her head first and she suffocated. Her head and neck were slimy and her beautiful, large crest was pasted down and swept forward (from the regurgitation). I'm so angry with myself that I didn't bring her in this morning.

Then one of the three tiny silkies/showgirls in a very small brooder was screaming. When I went to check it out, the box had tilted, spilling the water and drowning the SG I'd just taken from the incubator this morning. The two other babes are OK, although the screamer was fairly wet.

Critter, when you say crumbles are you meaning layer crumbles or chick start. If they are on chick start & you are changing them over to layer crumbles that should be fine. You can use sulmet if you can't find Corid but I have had better luck with Corid.

Hum, price is hard to estimate without seeing the actual birds. But I am wondering if its Buff Brahmas or Cochins you are looking at.... there isn't a Brahma Cochin...
