Judging from the pic, it looks like he only has two legs but at least the Mange is gone and his eyes look good.

We had a little bit of excitement yesterday. Matt went inside the barn and found a big bull snake curled up inside my hanging cage that I use as a cage for my growing chicks.

We used a frog gig to remove him, drug him outside where my little rat terrier had a feast, after I used a 22 LR on him..

We found 4 chicks, ( 2 americaunas and 2 Turkens) inside him.

I got alot more weedeating done before the rain hit.
When it stops I will have to go and remove a limb that was split during the icestorm.
We tried to save it but when the leaves came out, it got to heavy and its basically laying on the ground.

Well, Gotta also run into town, so better get off here.
Talk with you guys later!

Monty, I think you are describing Mason bees, which live in holes drilled in wood. They are a fairly good sized bee, but don't have colonies like honey bees or bumble bees. They also don't make honey.

Today, I bee working!

The thumb that I bandaged with tobacco on it has regained the tactile feeling in it (it was numb but sore yesterday) and isn't sore anymore.

Two of the three stings that I rubbed MSG on are much better. They still have a red spot the size of an old fashioned silver dollar around them, but don't throb anymore and the outer redness is receding.

Happy Birthday, Sooner!

Hey guys!! Long time, no type??

I'm going to put one of my cockerels on a scale today and tell you what to expect when they get heavy. I love the breed. I'm glad you are enjoying yours.

Hi Neecy

Too bad there will not be a poultry auction or poultry club meeting while y'all are down here.
There are plenty of restaurants and stores in Durant, but not many activity places (an old bowling alley and theater is about as entertaining as it gets.... unless you count the huge casino on the south side of town).
Maybe we could have a mini-BYC meeting at a restaurant or something! I know three other BYC families in Durant....

I really hadn't expected to be home today but the storm directed otherwise.

You know, I sat on the front porch and watched that storm rolling in; I haven't heard a storm like that before--it was litterally growling. Not thunder though...it started with the growling; a long way off sort of noise...noise that makes you uneasy. Then it got louder and louder...I thought it was the ferocity of the rain hitting the ground, as it hadn't yet arrived but I could see it was getting nearer. Then the growling got louder and became roaring...and then I could see what was making the noise--the WIND! I had barely any time to make the three steps to come inside before it blasted the house. It was an amazing thing to see but at the same time scary--I didn't know if we were having a tornado--it was one of those that could have popped up and been rain-wrapped. You just never know what can happen.

Vern stayed home for a little while this morning to begin the clean-up process. We have hay in the rafters in the barn...we have NEVER had hay blow up there before! The entire barn looks like it got mud blasted...even inside.

Luckily the coops were intact but the tarps seem to have made a hot air balloon out of themselves and are now waving at us from Alfalfa county!
