My husband and I have both wanted a Border Collie forever. He just heard 'free Border Collie' and got interested. But after we got the details we agreed that it would just be a nightmare.

Because of his profession, he has to go by our local dog pound for random reasons. He is always looking out for a good dog. But these days the majority of the dogs that come into the Chickasha pound are agressive breeds that have been picked up for said behavior.

Our biggest concern is the cattle. We want to get a pup that can be raised to behave properly around the livestock (including chickens!) So there's my total defense for wanting to get a Border Collie pup! *haha*

Buckguy, glad to see you back around! Looks like we're going to have to start calling role on you! *ha*

Goldrose, I remember you saying that horses were your true passion. Have you have ever run barrels? I would love to learn how to do that! Little sister-in-law likes to think she's a big horser... She ran barrels last week and her horse started bleeding from the lungs. She is ok but is pretty much retired at this point.

Carla, I didn't even think about taking a pup to the auction! You know I will! Will you be bringing your baby to the next Cement auction??

Quote:
Cammie, we just may bring the puppy to an auction for some socializing, but the bad thing is how large she is already. I don't think she's going to fit in the truck much longer! I saw on craigslist this morning an ad for some free half pyrenees, half border collie puppies, but the ad was removed almost immediately. There is somebody that flags (removes) all free dog ads ... because when I listed my free chicken eating terrier (terror), someone flagged the ad every time I put it on. Luckily I found a good home for her anyway.

Good luck on your puppy search!

Just letting everyone know that I am still looking for Welsummers. I will pick up within reasonable distance from Oklahoma City.
I am looking for adults but will take pullets and maybe some chicks.
Thanks Monty

They sold some Wesummers at the last Maud auction ... a cage full of hens and a rooster, and there were even some Welsummer chicks in a box but they were included with a few other breeds. I didn't pay attention to what price they sold for ... I have some eggs in the incubator from a nice man I know

and I also have some 3 month old birds that I bought as chicks at the first Blue auction I went to. I'm just not sure they're purebred, and I guess when I see their eggs will decide whether or not I'm keeping them. Most appear to be pullet chicks

Monty : glad to see you back in the thick of things, I do have some black sex link pullets about 15-17 wks old they are very healthy and look great, I would consider a trade if that is of intrest to you, I think I may be to far away though ( north of Lawton ). let me know.

Yes...had a World Champion and a couple of
National Hi-Points in several speed events (barrels, poles, stakes, and flags). Maybe some Lasix would help your SIL's horse. May want to check with the vet. KB

Goldrose, that is awesome! We've always just had cattle, no horses for me. But I loved rodeos growing up. They called a vet, he didn't mention anything like that. She is an older horse, so he said to just let her retire. She wants a new horse anyway, so I know she'd rather save her money for that.

Does anyone around my area have free kittens? One of our kitties had FIP, and I think the other kitty is ready for a buddy again. I want to get a young kitten, they seem to better to each other that way. And of course when we decide to start looking, there aren't any in our local paper!
