On the hunt

The coop/runs I love the most so far belong to Monk and ImissBuford. I'm trying to design a coop/run off of their designs. Some of the hardest parts for me is deciding on materials, etc... and formulating that final plan/placement of pop door/nesting boxes/ventilation/windows/etc...

A good place to start reading is the links in @aart signature.

Great discussion on VENTILATION, one of THE MOST IMPORTANT aspects of coop design.
Fantastic treatise to help decide how much SPACE your chickens need.
Coop Stack-up - how high should stuff be.
Chicken math is not just 'addition'...but also should include Division, Multiplication and especially Subtraction!!!

I would not duplicate the Monk coop...
...no ventilation(that dryer vent does't cut it) and it's pretty small.

this is the one i'm somewhat referring to.

Being as I'm in TN I definitely will add more ventilation and light. With Monks coop, I think its the overall design style, not necessarily the size. I like how the siding and the roofing tie in well together, and the way the roost and the nest boxes play into each other on the inside.
