I currently have 12 eggs in my incubator.
4 Turken/Bresse or Turken/Bresse/CCL mix due 8/15
1 of the same mix due 8/25 along with 2 Red Ranger/Dorking mixes
5 more of the same Turken mixes due 8/29.

Sounds like a lovely mystery hatch!
Are you using an incubator and a separate hatcher?

Nope, one incubator, staggered hatches. Not upping humidity until I see pips and dropping it as soon as hatching is over.
I have a humidikit so increasing humidity is fairly easy and opening the incubator will dry it out. As long as my air cells look good I think it'll be alright. I guess I'll find out.

Correction...first batch were set 7/27 so due 8/17, unsure for middle set maybe due about 26th, solid date for final set I put those in the incubator myself.

Notes for processing day for 4 boys...the white, black, red with colorful spots and black with white head and back/saddle feathers.

Need hwc on top of crate, they can get out. Using a small blanket for now. They were heavier than I expected when I picked them off the roost this morning.

...I'm having an adrenaline rush and feeling resolved but like I don't want to do it because I feel bad, for choosing them as opposed to luck?

Moving the cage to the garden and keeping the rest of the flock in the coop yard.

...Even the smallest of the 4 cockerels didn't fit in the cone. I put my arm up through the part the head fits through and tried stretching the neck out but their shoulders are too wide. Very frustrating. Currently considering our options/what we can come up with. Boys released back to flock for now. Will double check the kill cone size I purchsed but I'm pretty sure it is supposed to be a large.

I found it surprising and interesting that the chicken was calm when I had him upside down by the legs and put him in the cone.

Are you using typical wire crates, upside down?
I have heard stories of escapes...it's kinda funny, from afar and/or after the fact.

my cones didn't work either
used a kitty litter jug the the spout enlarged. I cut the head almost off with pvc pipe cutter and when it quits flopping put it in the boughten cone to finish bleeding out

Yea just a foldable dog crate, perfect size to hold and transport but they can definitely climb out the top. I did laugh, even in the moment. The small blanket actually worked really well, birds! Learning lessons as we go though Thanks for the link will check it out!
