Orpington vs. Pekins...

LEGHORNS are far superior to Cochins or Orps thats not even debatable so no need.
I really have no preference over Cochin or Orps. I've had more then my share of both.
There is a shift going on though. Back 30 years ago Cochin were king. Orps were mainly just a dual purpose bird and had no flare. Cochins were very popular and they looked better back then in general then they do now. Breeders have done them great injustice. Especially the LF. Its hard to even find good LF cochins now.
Orps hit overdrive when the English style as well as the lavenders started becoming popular. Their popularity has really risen and theyve become more of an eye candy breed. Lots of new varieties coming out with the laced and Isabella etc.
I just cochins on the decline and Orps on the rise.
100% agree with the Moonshiner!

Joke is I like Leghorns. Orps, Leghorns, OEGB and Bielefelders are my top four.

I'm really loving OEGB...sadly I think my Orps would squish any bantams I tried to get.
Once all my Orpington have passed - which won't be happening anytime soon - maybe I'll invest in something slimmer.

Never used to like Leghorns, but the more I see of them the more I like them.

I remember when I first got chickens I thought Leghorns were just boring, ordinary white chickens. Rofl.
