I feel for you!

Don't play around with an eye injury, always get medical attention.

When I got pecked I flushed my eye out several times and it still wound up getting infected, and was very painful.

My eye has healed now, but I'm very leary about my eyes when around animals now, it only takes a fraction of a second to put you in an entire world of pain.

Hope you heal quickly!

Ok, no one has heard anything from her. I'm worried, but I'm sure she's at home sleeping peacefully after a very chaotic afternoon in the ER. She's got to be exhausted from the pain. Everyone should just get some rest, and don't worry (too much)...she's in the best hands...HIS hands.

Hugs, Miss_Jayne.

OKAY! here's the big update!

firstly, thank you for all of the prayers, well-wishes and advice; i'll take all the prayers you can say, guys, because the pain is pretty bad.

hubby got home in record time, took me straight to the ER.

they got me right in, but let me just say, apparently i am the first person to come into Lapeer Hospital with a chicken pecked eye! everyone had to hear the story.

they got me right in, gave me a compress. they were really busy, but the doc got to me as fast as he could, numbed my eye, which only lasts minutes, but it was such a relief.

they looked with the 'green' light and yep....i had a lovely 3mm scratch across the pupil. at about '3 o'clock'. JUST missed the pupil center and they said that was a true blessing, any deeper and in the center would have been bad news.

taking a large dosage of vicodin and an antibiotic drop. have to go see an eye doc today to check again and possibly get a lens to cover the eye to lessen the pain and protect further.

and yes, my husband is getting me a pair of 'pretty' safety glasses.

just FYI, also, i did NOT let the chicken get up on my shoulder. she flew up when i leaned down while feeding. she had just been put into the coop with the 'big' chickens and is used to being handled. she must've been stressing a little and needed a bit of 'tlc'. i stood up, she snuggled down. i turned to talk to her and see which end was where so i could hold her in my arms when BAM! ouch.
