Our Mixed Flock Journey!

Do I take it you have Marans? Sorry, I'm still trying to get everyone sorted out but those dark brown eggs are lovely! 🥰 Who lays the speckly one in the bottom left corner?
Yes, I have Marans & I love their eggs too! I was preparing a carton of eggs to share with a friend & my husband asked if I was going to put one of the dark brown eggs in, I told him no, those are for me...I'm not a very good friend...lol The speckled egg is from one of my Welsummer girls!

What is FBMC an abbreviation of? Is that a Marans or something else? The States has so many hybrids we never see out here so I'm a little uncertain on some things.

It stands for French Black Copper Marans. I don't believe it's a hybrid. I have one hen & 2 roosters. I also have 2 hens that Hoover's Hatchery calls Midnight Majesty Marans, I believe they are hybrids. Their eggs aren't quite as dark as the FBCM! I'm still learning the abbreviations too, it took me a bit to realize what BR was.

Ah, well. I have BRs so I know that one. ;) Always best to ask. There are some distinct differences between American & Aussie chickens. For example our Aracaunas aren't rumpless & Frizzles [both standard & bantam] are an actual breed out here ~ like with the Brits. I thought my Frizzle would be a glamour girl only but she's actually a really good layer. :)

City ordinances . I live in Metro Chicago-land. Two adjacent suburbs , Franklin Park, and Northlake, do not allow chickens or ducks at all. :(
The local governments of the local communities make their own rulings/choices. In City Of Chicago within city limits, chickens and roosters are allowed. Only time they would tell you to get rid/remove rooster, is if it becomes a noise nuisance. (and people complain) Also If there is suspicion of rooster fighting.
So in this large metro area, with the multitude of suburbs, its a hit or miss on chickens allowed.
Seramas are just cuties:love as pets. The one in below pix is one that I got last year, Also my Avatar shows one from years past.

Your hens are beautiful! I'm trying to get caught up on the last month of your thread...it's a busy one & I'm really enjoying it!

Good morning all! I went out and checked on my chickens and Ophelia seemed to be doing fine this morning, she came running out for the cracked corn along with everyone else! I will continue to keep a close eye on her today!

After I checked the chickens I looked in on Daphne! She had 13 kits, I couldn't believe it when I finished counting all of them! And on Labor Day...so fitting! I couldn't get a clear picture they were wiggling so much...lol!

Yep, we're a garrulous lot. :lau Wait till you realise there's 2 other really chatty threads you need to read as well because the conversations move across all 3 threads & we often forget where we've posted. :gig:gig:gig

I have a hard enough time keeping up with threads, without mixing the conversation up on other threads...lol!
