Our Mixed Flock Journey!

I only keep pets, and recently lost one, so this is my current flock of 7.
1 RIR, 1 Polish, 2 Old English game hens, (banties) Silver Duckwings, 1 Japanese Bantam, and 2 Seramas.
The one I lost was a 4 year old Silver laced Polish. Sister to the one in pix below.

Next week I am adopting another Serama, and another mystery chicken. Reason I say Mystery Chicken, is,,,,,,,,, not sure what that person will have available, and it has to be a hen. (no roosters allowed by me). Will see when I get there.
I always add to my flock in at least 2 chicken increments. This avoids flock pecking on solo newcomer. The Magnificent Dual :gig usually hang together for moral support during integration.
Why no roosters? I'm not allowed one but I wouldn't choose to have one either so I'm curious as to your reasons.

Seramas are an interesting choice. What are they like? I'm not even sure they're available out here.

City ordinances . I live in Metro Chicago-land. Two adjacent suburbs , Franklin Park, and Northlake, do not allow chickens or ducks at all. :(
The local governments of the local communities make their own rulings/choices. In City Of Chicago within city limits, chickens and roosters are allowed. Only time they would tell you to get rid/remove rooster, is if it becomes a noise nuisance. (and people complain) Also If there is suspicion of rooster fighting.
So in this large metro area, with the multitude of suburbs, its a hit or miss on chickens allowed.
Seramas are just cuties:love as pets. The one in below pix is one that I got last year, Also my Avatar shows one from years past.

That is such a great idea mine is an old shipping crate that I got from a company by me
Thank you for the welcome and welcome to my thread. I think your shipping crate is a great brooder too! I love your rabbit, it's really pretty, how does it like being in with the chicks? Looks like you also have a mixed flock? What do you have?

I love your flock & Dyna is so beautiful! If I had a larger coop, I'd be tempted to get some Serama's.

A flock of bunnies and chickens...I love it! :love

Well, I went out to put up more fencing even though I thought my hen was staying in the pen! As I'm working on the fence, I hear a little rustling and low and behold there she is sitting on the other side of her fence on 8 eggs and I saw her picking at one of the eggs, I think she ate it...:rant Anyway, my husband climbed over a shorter section of the fence and caught her, she is now in chicken jail until I can get the rest of the larger fence gaps blocked off! When I first walked up to the pen she was surrounded by a good portion of the flock commiserating with her... :gig If the new fencing doesn't keep her contained...she's on her own! :hmm
