Hi everyone! We've had quite a bit going on around here per usual, so not as much BYC time as I would like. We have another guest in our yard...a hen. She looks like some of my girls with missing back feathers. :( I haven't been able to get a picture of her yet. She's started hanging out over by our chicken pen. I expect to find her inside at some point. She has very upright tail feathers. She looks like she might be a Fayoumi or at least part.
I have found a peahen that I believe we will be getting. I think it will encourage our peacock to stick around. He really does seem to like our yard. I will share a picture of her if the lady will send me one. We will have to go pick her up, it's about 2 hours away, but before we do that we will have to convert the old chicken pen into a peafowl habitat. I can't believe I'm thinking about another project...I might need an intervention...😁
We will be gone for the next few days. Hubs is taking me on a getaway to a bed & breakfast for my birthday. The place is on a lake, so we will be taking our boat. I'm also taking the telescope, the owner is excited about it, there is an Eagles nest across the lake from their house, so we are hoping to get some good pictures. I will share if I get any.
Oh, all of this is so exciting! I want to find wandering animals! You’re so lucky! Your yard must be very welcoming! So excited to meet your new pea hen! I’m guessing the hen will be welcomed to stay as well💕

I hope you have a nice time on your birthday getaway 💕❤️

It's been fun...I certainly wasn't looking for new animals, but I'm glad they found us! We have a lot of cover in our treelines & we planted trees & shrubs that will provide food as well as shelter for birds & small animals. It's like a park surrounded by sand & sagebrush. The hen is definitely welcome, but I know she won't let me herd her into the chicken pen. I'd have to figure out where she's roosting & catch her at night to put her in there and I would probably have to keep her segregated...I think her being on the outside & the flock seeing her daily is working as an introduction. I haven't heard back from the lady on the peahen since our initial conversation, so I don't know what will happen there. I'm nowhere near ready to bring her home yet anyway.

Thank you...we are having a nice time. Hubs let me sleep in. He's down fishing off the dock & since I have a few moments to myself, I wanted to say hi to everyone! Hope you're feeling better today!💞
