super cute!

my 2 aseel boys pecked one (of 2) pullet on the back of her head so hard that even after a week the wound didn't heal. do you think they tried to mate her or would they kill a female for some reason? I have a pekin duck with the "mating" wound that looks almost the same.
I’ve been reading a lot of stories about horny cockerels who overmate, are clumsy and mean to the pullets and hens. I feel sorry for the hens who get assaulted and would like it if people try to imagine what these hens are going through.

Maybe more space, more hiding places or more hens for each rooster would help. Rule of thumb is 1 rooster for 10 hens if the breed or character is not soft. How many hens do you have?

It also might be a good idea to (temporarily) separate the boys where they cannot see the hens.

If these thing’s can’t be done / nothing helps I suppose you have to eliminate the meanest cockerel.

PS. I don’t have any experience with your breed or having 2 cockerels who mate and just like to contribute what I’ve learned from others.

In my research, it was recommended to house each aseel cockerel separately until they turn 8 months old, then introduce females. Some males take longer. These birds mature very slowly.

The 1 male to 10 females rule exists for fertilisation purposes. It doesn't really apply to what can work and what can't.

Said rule does not apply to gamefowl whatsoever, not even for the above purposes. It's recommended to not keep more than 3 aseel females in the same pen; keeping more would require a lot of space, or a dawn to dusk free range setting

I have 2 cockerels and 2 pullets in a coop where there is a cage with 3 quails as well. no other place to keep them. as the wounded girl is in the house there are 2 boys and 1 girl in the coop. no problem so far.

I had an accident happen with 2 dutch bantam chicks. no idea who pecked their heads almost to death. they were under a cage cover in the coop with the rest of dutch bantams. they live so far.

Today I had a respons from my add on the Dutch Craigslist (Marktplaats) for my 3 month old bantam Sulmtaler cockerel.

A nice lady and her husband want to buy Tintin. They had a casualty with a predator when their young cockerel was sleeping outside.

They love to add a young male Sulmtaler to their flock with 2 young pullets and 2 adult hens to replace him. He can free range there too. 😍

I made a pick up appointment for tomorrow.

The 3 Amrock chicks are probably 2 male and one female. I had this combination a several years ago too, and gave away the 2 cockerels at a young age. The pullet that was left with no siblings had a hard time after that. So I better keep one Amrock cockerel, at least until next spring when the pullet is confident enough to roost with the adults.

The boys:

Thomson and Thompson

Hi, Welcome to this thread Georgia. What kind of chickens do you have?
I have 1 Wellsummer, 1 buff Sussex and 1 light Sussex who are all just over a year old. Then I have one crested cream legbar chick who is a week old (originally 2 but one of them sadly passed) and tomorrow I will be getting 2 more chicks which will probably be some sort of bantams to keep our chick company! What chickens do you keep?
