Pellets or crumble, and why?

I am curious which version of commercial chicken feed most people buy, pellets or crumble, and why? Are you loyal to one, or do you mix it up? Are you loyal to a particular brand?

I prefer crumbles because I think it works better for fermenting. I never buy pellets.
I prefer M-G brand feed because it is made locally.

I prefer crumble for chicks due to size.

I prefer pellets for later life. Much less dust and full-sized chickens have no problem consuming them. They regularly swallow bugs/worms whole that are much larger.

I also ferment, but differ somewhat from KikisGirls on this. I think pellets/crumbles are both fine for fermenting. The two are indistinguishable after 1-2 hours as the pellets/crumbles break down into a mash. I always give the mixture a good stir initially to distribute the bacteria and any later stirring will only help them to ferment additional food particles.

Would you mind sharing the mix you use. I have to go pick up food for my 2week+ chicks today. Any suggeztions? Is this ok? Its what i have been giving them

I buy crumble since that is how Flock Raiser comes. I don't have to worry about buying different "types" for different age groups, so it makes it easy whether I have chicks or just adults, everybody gets the same feed. So yes, I suppose I would be "loyal" to the same brand at this time.

For chicks, that's good feed, use that!

I like pellets better for adult chickens because then I can mix it with some water, and they love it!
