Aww hopefully you find something and I’ll try to look too LOL if you tell me about what area of CT (you don’t have to say specifics) hahah
Southwestern
I found one thing but I can't seem to find the details on it and I think that it's in the northeastern corner

It depends more on what you really want to do with them. The breed is important but some can be taught to do amazing things if worked with.

Willow is a puppy we rescued from the pound. She is part Lab/part Blue Heeler. Since she had been in two different pounds, her time was up. The saddest puppy I had ever seen. She didn't know how to interact with humans or other dogs, not even how to play really.

Today she is four. The best guard dog I've ever had. The alarm goes off when someone is around, when she barks, I pay attention. She runs the parameter of the yard and barks at birds, planes and whatever comes inside her area. Her breed makes her an excellent herder. All her stuffed animals must be in a circle, she does the same with insects on the patio.

She is now learning to keep the chickens near the coop without hurting them or scaring them. We live on 21 acres and she protects her family with all her might, even the girls when they free range.

She and Sampson tree squirrels, run the same paths as the deers take to the pond, flush out rabbits and most of all keep the coyotes away from the chicken coop. They are house broken and come in part of the day and sleep inside at night. They also love a car ride too. They follow and know 50 different words/commands.

So I really believe you can teach them a lot and the love you give them means a lot too.

BTW....I am a proud DOG/CHICKEN mom lol

I love them!!! :love apologies, thought I replied haha

I'm starting junior showmanship with Finn! I'm taking a breed handling class starting next week. I checked and it's ok that he's young and that I'm young, because there's mixed experience levels in the class. I'm going to start teaching him to stack and acclimatising him to a slip lead today, and try to work on focus more.

Who here does a sport with their dogs? I've always wanted to do them but Gator's too old and sick now and slightly dog reactive. I might try to see if brother and FSIL would let me do one with Libby though or I'll just wait till my next dog, probably either a Golden or an Aussie.

Anyway, anyone have any advice, pictures, videos, stories, etc.?

I would most likely be doing agility, nosework, rally, and dockdiving and possibly tracking or regular obedience. And of course tricks. But any sport is welcome. I also love the protection sports. Herding dogs. I guess it doesn't have to just be a sport, hunting or herding or dog sledding or whatever you do with your dogs is cool too. Speaking of which, I might also try bikejoring or skijoring if the dog's big enough.
My dog is unable to do sports right now (we’re working on her reactivity) but for training we go to an amazing place where they offer obedience, rally and agility! Because my dog is half irish wolfhound we’d loooove to get her into lure coursing (we do use a flirt pole, but it’s not the same!) There is a huuuuuge dog sport instagram community and for ideas/pictures/stories I’d definitely check stuff out there!
