Pigeon Talk

They didnt get caught by hawks! Lol. They mostly hung around on the ground and trees. They dont do good here with all the trees. Im going to move them and section off a part of my breeders coop so they then are close to a field. Hopefully they do better and dont get caught by hawks there. Ive only lost one roller to a hawk though. It was a runt.
I assume they did ok?
I saw a hawk on my way home the other day, not far from my house. So they are still hanging around here. :hmm

I flew my rollers today. Even though i said i was in lock down. My goal is to fly my birds just enough to keep them used to the trap. Tommorow ill prob try the homers. If i dont see any hawks that is.
I saw 2 hawks today but I admit I often think about letting then out for a good fly. Having the flight pen where they can flap around, stroll on the ground and roost up high in the sun when its out really helps! I would feel worse if they were confined in the loft, especially w18 birds in a 4x6 loft.
Took this pic of Loper tonight. He so funny when he stands up tall on his perch and puffs his chest out like he's warning me not to mess with him....I tickled his toes anyway!:lau I like this little guy.

Awww he’s adorable! Have you confirmed he’s a male?

Will you allow it to breed? I wonder if he will go back to the feral flock in summer? I dought it but maybe.
Right now I'm focused on not breeding, at least until I would have a plan for re-homing the offspring. If I was allowing breeding I believe I would include him. He has a nice compact shape, is a very agile flyer and has demonstrated intelligence and self confidence. His smaller size would be a good balance for some of my larger birds. He might be a great sprinter if raced:confused: and could pass on some good qualities to his sons and daughters.
Given how determined he was to join the loft, I too doubt that he will leave... but you never know - he does make his own decisions.:D

Loper may have been the black sheep of some family (most families have one lol) Decided to venture out in the big world on his own, found your place as a safe haven. Maybe someday he will want to go back, or maybe he’ll decide it’s fine where he is.
